First, a heads-up, you’ll want to make a reservation, and it’s a good idea to get there a little early to find parking. Once inside, the atmosphere was great, and the service was top-notch. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, making the night feel even more special.
The food? Incredible. I got the scallops, steak frites, and a chocolate dessert (the name escapes me), and I can confidently say it was the best steak I’ve ever had. My wife had the house salad, steak frites, and a dessert that I also can’t remember the name of but she loved it.
We don’t go to places this nice very often, but we wanted to do something special for Valentine’s, and Byrdie’s did not disappoint. If you’re looking for a great dining experience, this is the place. We’ll definitely be back.
The food here added depth to the city’s dining landscape. Each dish felt deliberate, with flavors that were precise and well-balanced, paired with thoughtful presentation. Byrdie’s brings a level of refinement that elevates French cuisine in Louisville, making it a must-try.
Highlights of the night included their foie gras torchon, which was decadently smooth with pear, and the short rib pitivier, paired with beets, and wrapped in warm, flaky pastry.
I’m already looking forward to returning and exploring more of their menu!
No soul, mediocre flavor. Every course was either drastically over seasoned or under seasoned. High dollar core ingredients like scallops, escargot, and short rib are squandered on under-realized dishes that look pretty but taste like diner food. Give those components to Red Hog, Repeal, Fat Lamb, Jack Fry’s, etc., and they’ll give you so much more for your money.
Louisville is far too excellent a food town to waste $400 on uninspired cuisine that aspires to be technically savvy continental European fare melded with farm-to-table soul food, yet manages to achieve the virtues of neither. And the prices are more than just your typical NULU surcharge.
