Went to Catcher’s Fisher House and honestly left underwhelmed. The food was mediocre across the board — pasta, meat, everything just lacked flavor. It felt like presentation took priority over taste. The drinks tasted more like juice than actual cocktails. The bartender was friendly, but the quality of the drinks didn’t match the vibe they’re going for.

It’s definitely overpriced for what you’re getting. The biggest thing this place has going for it is the aesthetic — it looks great, and the view is nice, but unfortunately, that’s about it. If you’re going strictly for the atmosphere, you’ll probably enjoy it. If you’re going for good food and drinks, there are better options.

We hosted my parents’ 25th Wedding Anniversary party here, and I was absolutely impressed by the service! Armando went above and beyond to help organize everything. We came a couple hours early to decorate the place, with the inside space for the party and stunning photo opportunities by the water. And the food was so delicious!

We went with four people to the bar and it was great! We got the island treasure which was delicious! We also ordered oysters, calamari, and the rice balls which were also delicious.

The bartenders were also super fun and friendly! Will come back when I visit!

Happy anniversary- not when we saw the bill! A pretty location on the canal with outside seating, BUT, the breeze blew the plastic cup filled with water across the table and my hair into the lobster bisque. You’re outside, it happens. $30 per drink just because it was in a scooped out fruit, not worth it. The bisque had no lobster meat in it at all. My husband got one of the specials- twin lobster tails stuffed with crabmeat: $70 for the lobsters AND then $25 for the crabmeat! Tip was included for 2 people? A service charge was also included? And then they kindly included several options for additional tipping! But the worst part of it all was the only dessert they didn’t have that night, was the chocolate cake, my entire reason for selecting the restaurant. Very disappointing.

Weekend vibes aren’t complete without Catcher’s Fish House in Freeport. The food is always on point, the atmosphere is fun, and the staff makes you feel right at home. If you’re around Freeport, this is the spot for great seafood and good energy. ”

This is one of my top restaurants on the “Mile”. It has a great open concept floor plan which is great in the summer. The food is very good, and drinks as well. I love the fact I can sit at the bar on the street side or the water side. I always order a bunch of appetizers so I can have a variety of food. Last time we ordered surf and turf tacos, calamari salad, coconut shrimp and grilled octopus. All the food was delicious. I definitely recommend coming here

Off the top, this place is way overpriced. We have have dined at much more expensive restaurants, it’s not about that, it’s about what you get for the price point and at Catcher’s, it’s mediocre food and service, sitting between a canal and a loud street, at 5 star restaurant prices.

We gave it a second chance after a poor birthday experience. No change.

It wasn’t terribly crowded on a sunny Sunday evening. Should have been hopping, but it wasn’t. A large table was seated after us, saw a lot of looking at, talking about and pictures of,
the menus. Shortly thereafter they got up and left. Smart choice. The wait staff was noticeably talking about them, then a manager or owner came over yelling. Something about pineapple, $20 and them leaving after. Couldn’t quite make it out.

Against my better judgment, we stayed. We came by boat and there’s really nothing of quality in the area.

My wife wanted sauvignon blanc, but they only had Oyster Bay, a $10 mediocre bottle that they were peddling at $58. Yes some restaurants have started 4-4.5x markup on wine, but this is just egregious.

Our first time there I went with their paella special. At $65, it is very overpriced, but I really like paella, especially if it comes with a lobster tail. I asked about it before ordering, particularly if it was a traditional paella. They said it was, well it wasn’t (it is pictured).

This time, only one place setting with fork, knife and napkin were on the table that would be for four (we were 3). We had to eventually ask for more when entrees were served.

This time, the paella was again a special, but I had no intention of ordering a soupy dish. They had a porterhouse and stuffed lobster special, but I didn’t have high hopes and didn’t want to gamble about having to argue over its $245 price tag if it lived up to my poor expectations, so i passed on that. I was then contemplating the pork chop, but that’s a tough one if the chef isn’t up to par. So…a bacon cheeseburger, maybe a 6oz was on the menu for $26. Really? Better be a fancy steakhouse burger at that price. It wasn’t, but it was good. Anyway asked for truffle fries instead of regular fries, they said it would be an additional charge, which I expected. What they didn’t say was that they were going to charge me for an entire side of truffle fries ($14) and not bring out both sets of fries. So that $26 burger was now $40.

Also ordered this time were:
Mesclun salad with grilled shrimp (I thought it was terrible, but our 13 year old thought it was ok).

Linguine and white clam sauce. Just ok.

My wife asked for a second glass of sangria before asking for the check, the check came without the sangria on it, but the sangria never made it to the table. Fine.

The check had a service fee added as well as a 20% gratuity already added. We were a party of 3. I forgot that they added those last time. Said something about both as well as the $14 upcharge for truffle fries. I should have taken a Pic.

Apparently if you pay cash (which I was) the service fee comes off. They removed the added 20% so i could leave whatever I wanted, and reduced the burger $7.

In any event, just an all around bad experience. Wish I would have remembered exactly how overpriced they are before deciding. After 2x I can say we are definitely never going back. Frankly, I don’t understand how this place gets any good reviews. I hope they close. The owners and the staff (who make it obvious they talk about customers) don’t deserve the place. Pretty sure we got the same treatment as the guy that was yelling about the prior group came up to the manager asking excitedly what I said to him as I left.

There’s really nothing good on the mile. This place used to be Nawlins, and while the service was extremely slow (order two drinks at a time lol) the cajun food was very good. The subsequent Tropix on the Bayou and now Catcher’s were both sub par.

This is a hard pass unless you like throwing your money away.

Such a nice restaurant on the mile. Was very impressed with the new look! Food was 10/10, nice sized portions, and tasty drinks!!

The charred octopus was my favorite, and the scallops over risotto melted in my mouth.

I can’t wait to come back to sit outside in the deck, and try the seafood tower!

Love this new addition to The Mile! The drink menu is so well curated with something for everyone. Prices aren’t cheap but you’re also paying for the fabulous view! Also, nothing is cheap these days plus they use high quality ingredients. Now onto the food…absolutely delicious and is served fresh and hot. I ordered the crab bucatini and loved it. The sweetness of the crab with the the charred corn was a hit for me. Plenty of lump crab in the dish and the bucatini was al dente just how I like it. Nice size portion too. Ended up taking half home and having a whole other meal! Daniel and Anna at the bar are the best. Definitely looking forward to trying out their brunch menu and going back to explore more dinner options!

But wait there’s more…I have been frequenting this place since it’s such a neighborhood gem. So I wanted to share my next installment of photos and thoughts. I had the halibut oreganata with seafood risotto the other night and it was fantastic. I didn’t expect it to be so filled with mussels, clams, shrimp, lobster etc. And such a generous piece of halibut. Fresh and perfectly crusted/cooked. Please see attached

The friends I was with had the crab bucatini (talked it up), the Paella special (delicious and huge platter, so worth the Market Price) and then a second halibut oreganata except minus breadcrumbs bc she is gluten free. Catchers FH was extremely accommodating. See ya again soon

Met a dear friend for lunch. A great place, clean, spacious and not loud. The food was amazing. We had the seafood fravioblo and could not believe the amount of king crab legs. The lobster ravioli had actual lobster pieces and the penne a la vodka was beyond comparison. Service was great with no rush but plenty of attention .
