1st time at this local chain and very pleased. Quiet on this day as everyone was at the fair. Excellent pie, love the homemade sauce and dough. Perfect amount of toppings. Our service was excellent as well having my drink filled at least 3 times after spending all morning not drinking anything. Will definitely be back to try some of their other options.

The people were nice, but the pizza was not worth almost $25! We ordered the Roma (without olives), we were told it would be 30 minutes. Then at 25 minutes, we received a call from them saying they don’t have spinach (which was fine) but when we got there it was another 15 minutes and then the pizza didn’t even have the fire roasted tomatoes or the normal amount of sauce and ingredients maters normally has. So we basically paid $25 for bacon and cheese bread that was over cooked. Very disappointing because we love this restaurant in Albertville. They are known for there big pizzas with lots of toppings and this was more like a thin crust pizza from dominos.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great food, fast service, and the coolest server!
Stopped by Mater’s Pizza & Pasta Emporium and it was a fantastic experience. The pizza was top-tier—perfect crust and toppings. I was really impressed with the speed of service; we got our food incredibly fast.
I also have to give major props to a particular waitress. She had black and blue hair and was just a total ray of sunshine. She was beautiful, full of great energy, and even busted out some dance moves while taking care of people! It’s rare to see staff having that much fun while doing such a good job. If you want great pizza and a fun atmosphere, this is the place.

During our stay in Mentone, AL, we had a craving for some good pizza. Checked out a few Google searches and yelp reviews.

We were headed to another home town pizza spot when we ask someone in the parking lot for advice. They suggested we try Mater’s just down the road.

Nice spot in the downtown district. Exposed brick walls and “bar pie” feel. We were seated quickly and ordered our appetizer promptly.

Mozzarella sticks were hot and crisp, but obviously frozen. Still good, marinara sauce was thick and tasty.

We ordered a thin crust pizza w Alfredo sauce instead of tomato sauce. Waitress said Alfredo was made to order so it might take a little longer. No worries.

Pizza came out hot and bubbling. Crust was thin and crisp but lacked any airy fermentation in the bones. Pepperoni was crisp and tangy. Niblet pineapple was sweet and juicy.

The Alfredo sauce was thin and lacked a garlic flavor. I did taste spicy jalapeño side note. Not sure if that was intentional or misguided.

Overall, good experience. Better choice than chain store pizza. Nice bar pie atmosphere.

4/5, give it a try if your in town.

Stopped at Mater’s for lunch on our way through Ft Payne. Ft Payne has several good places you can eat and Mater’s should now be added to that list…if you are making one. We both had calzones as we couldn’t decide on a pizza and they were both excellent. The service was good as in the wait staff was knowledgeable, polite and attentive, it just took a long time to get our food. So if you’re going and I recommend you do, don’t expect it to be a quick trip. The food will be excellent and worth the wait just plan on it taking longer than you expect.

I read some reviews on the service being slow. I did not experience this at all. We are moving from Dallas to Fort Payne. One of my biggest adjustments is the speed in which things get done. I’m slowly adapting to the slower pace of life but this was the fastest service I have had in Fort Payne. Seated immediately, drink order taken within seconds, starter order taken as soon as the waitress returned with the drinks. She let us get started on our appetizers then took our order. We ordered 2 pizzas and watched the cars coming through Main Street. The appetizer was ‘ok’. It actually had me fearing the pizza since my wife ordered some cranberry covered pizza and another without meat. My fears were wasted. The pizzas were amazing. I don’t remember the names…sorry. once we were done, our waitress was there with a box and the check. She never allowed our drinks to reach half way. Loved the service and pizza. I’ll be back.

The best part was the atmosphere & the beer. There was 4 tables when got there & it took almost a hour for our food. We had 2 large pepperoni a pepperoni calzone & a 8 in pizza. The waitress didn’t check on us after she brought the food.

Shame on staff. Visiting local area and loved the curb appeal. Downhill from there. 2 workers spent more time talking with each other than actually working. Ordered lasagna and wings (wings were acceptable ). I have had better lasagna from the Dollar General Freezer. Based on the few tables, I expected quality service but it disappointed also. Funny thing is reading reviews after my experience (shoulda read prior) seems to be a general consensus that there are serious issues that need to be addressed. One and done for me. Bathroom was nice though. Thanks, no thanks for 2nd visit.

With all of the Alabama brewers, I was surprised and disappointed the Ft Payne location does not offer a craft beer selection! I ordered the Better Girl (loaded) pie. The crust was delicious but I found the pizza itself lacking in flavor. Our service was friendly, engaging and attentive, and my Golden was welcome on the patio.
