I actually purchased a Groupon for this place $60 worth of food and my husband and I literally got $60 worth! That was A LOT of food! We got a sample plate which is fried shrimp, gator and crawfish, 1lb of crawfish, 1 shrimp po boy, 1 gator and shrimp plate, side of corn and jambalaya. Everything was so good! Service is great! The young man at the register is very charismatic! He offered us to also try their chili and cheese hush puppies which were actually pretty good! We will definitely come back!

First time visit for us but worth the drive. This hidden gem sits on the main strip in Kaufman and yet, it wasn’t crowded at all.

I had the Crawfish Etouffe while my wife had the fried fish and shrimp basket. They use a combination of frozen and fresh seafood but they were prepared so well we couldn’t tell the difference. We had a group of 6 so we were able to sample quite a bit. Frog legs, boudin sausage balls, fried pickles, alligator bites and their Bob Armstrong Queso. All were excellent.

They do not have a bar but do serve a variety of bottled beers as well as a self serve soda station. Staff and service was prompt and courteous and, very knowledgeable of the foods they offer.

Ordering is reminiscent of ordering food in a pub in England. Get your menu, find a table, then place your order back at the hostess station using your table number. You can leave your credit card at the hostess station if you want to open a tab.

All in all it was a good experience and we’ll definitely be returning in the future.

I enjoyed all of the food I ordered.
Frog legs, jambalaya, fried alligator, fried crawfish, fried shrimp (all seasoned really well)
Cup of seafood gumbo- spicey, flavored, a little soupy, still good. (nothing against it, depends on you type of gumbo thick or not)

My husband had an opposite experience-
Chicken fried steak with the cajun gravy (ate about a quarter, said there was a different taste to it, it may have been the gravy and better if he got it plain)
Macaroni- plain macaroni
Corn on the cob- not sweet, no flavor other than being grilled cooked.

We split the difference in he really liked the shrimp, so its definitely a good southern seafood style place. Not busy at all, actually really enjoyed having the place almost all to ourselves.

Going back for the boudain balls next time

So I had heard some amazing things about this place. I will say their gator is phenomenal. However, that was probably the worst crawfish ettoufettei have ever eaten. I was not a fan of their jambalaya either. They do cook their ears of corn very well though. I will go back, but I will have to try other things on the menu because I was not impressed with what I ordered.

I ordered the catfish basket with red beans & rice and the only issue I had was the rice was a bit clumpy but otherwise the flavor was good…my daughter ordered the shrimp basket with mac & cheese and she said it was pretty good…will go back to try other items soon

Pretty good Cajun food for a small town like Kaufman. Started with bacon-wrapped shrimp followed by fried gator tail and shrimp with fire-roasted corn. Corn could have come with a little more butter, but kennels came clean off the cob. Gator was not sliced like I’m used to, but tasted great. Hush puppies were over cooked . I’d come back if given the chance.

Great food. Reasonably priced for Cajun food. Staff was friendly and helpful. Order at the counter and wait for your food at the table or enjoy the outdoor dining with picnic tables and covered seating. Plenty of parking around the building. Our party of 8 was served promptly with minimal wait with no complaints. Food was delicious. Fried Gator and the blackened Gator was terrific. Crawfish is on the menu along with many other seafood items.

Tried the sample platter, boudin balls, seafood gumbo and a side salad. Most items tasted ok. Had several selections of beer including a few different Abita beers. Order at front counter. Once you receive your order you are on your own. We will have to go back and try some other items.

Food had a nice presentation but was a tad bland. The gator was good. Chicken fried chicken comes with clumpy brown gravy.
