The Horse’s Axe is a family-owned, small business founded in November 2020. It started with a pun and has become an axe throwing franchise in rustic themed venues. We are known for axe throwing, but we also have billiards, darts, TV’s, food and a large selection of Beer, Cider, Seltzer, Wine and Mimosas. We are the perfect place for date nights, family fun, team-building events, celebrations, birthdays and Holiday parties! Our Denison location is in the heart of downtown at 131 W. Main St. Grab some food at our pizza kitchen and hang out all night.

We came here to eat after seeing online that they had gluten-free options. When we arrived, we realized it’s more of an activity-style sports bar with darts, pool, a few arcade games, axe throwing (yes, really!), and even a little gift shop at the front.
At the counter, we were told that everything on the menu is gluten-free, and they even have a couple of gluten-free beers on tap, which is awesome!
The food was decent overall. The boneless wings were more like chicken nuggets, the pizza had canned mushrooms instead of fresh, and the fries weren’t fresh-cut, which was a bit of a letdown. It did feel a little pricey, but given that everything is certified gluten-free, that makes sense. I just wish they’d use more fresh ingredients where possible.
Overall, I had a good time here — it’s a fun, lively spot and I love that it’s a dedicated gluten-free place. Definitely worth checking out if you’re gluten-free and looking for something different!

Great place to go throw an axe, or even for darts or pool. (Not throwing the pool but playing pool!) we found this place on our way from from the day at the lake as this came up as dedicated glute-free! Yes this is indeed an all GLUTEN-FREE sports place we have ever seen! They have 8 lanes for axe throwing and 3 darts board and 3 pool tables. There are a few other arcade type machines to play as well. So they got many things for every age group I guess. Plus they do customised engravings on the axe or wooden boards which was pest neat! Matt, Conner and the team are amazing at hosting and it’s almost like they are more friends with you than just staff.
The food is great too. The turkey burnt ends are so very amazing! You need to try it.

Our group had a great time. The service staff was exceptionally friendly. The food is good, though slightly pricier than I cared for. They do not serve liquor or mixed drinks other than margarita. (Get the margarita tower, a giant picture serving the whole group.)

We love coming here! It’s awesome. The staff is always very friendly and always teaching us new things from different ways to throw to different ways to keep safe and continue to have fun. They have a great selection of both alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, they don’t have food options but they do have snacks. I definitely recommend eating before or asking the staff if you can bring your own food, like I said they are super awesome and will work with you if you treat them with respect!. They have foam axes for the kiddies to use so they won’t get hurt with the sharp ones, and the sharp ones are stored in a safe way while out for people to use.
The establishment is always clean, they have pool tables to enjoyed while you wait for your time or after your time. Me and my wife we able to buy our own axes AND get them engraved (they came out great!). The establishment is wheelchair accessible though a little tight so I would call and definatly inform in advance so that they can accommodate accordingly for you to enjoy your time!

We had a blast! Took my husband for his 67th bday. This was our first time. Loved the atmosphere and the excellent staff and service. Perfect coaching from Mike and Jeanette. I felt perfectly safe. Will be back and have a meal there. Food smelled so good!

While home over the holidays, my family dragged me here for some axe throwing. I honestly didnt think I would enjoy it but it was actually pretty cool. I took everyone back again before the holidays were over and will visit again when I return home. They also have pool tables, darts, etc not just axes.

We had been to one place on Frisco Colorado like this and had fun there, so we invited some friends for some local fun.
The venue has great decoration with two levels and several lanes. Horse’s Axe has the really nice projection software with team scoring, and various games.
The really great part of this place is the nice people that work there. We came in as 5 novices, and with a bit of quick instruction, we were consistently hitting targets and sticking the shots. Amazing that they can analyze anyone’s throw so quickly.
We are impressed and will definitely be back, thanks!

Honestly this was a great experience with my youngest two children. They had a lot of fun. The cost per lane covers up to 6 people, and I only had 3 so I didn’t really like that I had to pay more for less people, but I’d I had had 6 with me it would have been a really good deal. Pizza is a bit small for the price as well, but was baked well and the kids really loved it. We will definitely do this again at some point.

I’ve been coming on a weekly basis (Saturdays) just to chill and talk with the staff. I typically get a pizza and have a couple beers while playing pool and jamming music on touchtunes. Josh and Connor are phenomenal conversationalist and we have some good laughs. Both are very engaging with every guest that walks in, and always in good spirits. Josh always makes a damn good pizza.

Our experience was awesome!!! Our Axepert was AMAZING!!! We rented 4 lanes for our 18yr old’s birthday and while it was pretty pricey, it was worth it! Food is GREAT and service is even better! Thanks for making it memorable and fun!!!
