***Edit – this review was supposed to be for Empire Chinese Kitchen in Portland, not Wing Lee*** Second time visiting. First time we had a large group (7) and did have to wait about an hour and a half. This time it was just two of us and we came early and were seated right away. Highly recommend the Duck Lo Mein, the bok choy, eggplant and bao buns. Everything we had both visits was fabulous. Great service. We will be back!

This is one of those “hidden gem” kind of places. A simple storefront, boxes of supplies stacked in the corner, four booths and an 8-place table. Customers parading on and out for pickup, phone ringing incessantly, and a marvelous lady cheerfully juggling it all. And I see why it’s busy. The food was excellent! Much better than we got at that famous place in Wells. If we lived closer, Wing Lee is the only Chinese restaurant we’d ever care to go to!

I’m picked up to go on the way to work for myself and my coworkers several times. Everything is just so yummy Not to mention that it’s so big portions as well. Love it! Highly recommend
Update my review;
Kinda a little disappointed when my last order of stir fry Lo Mein had very little vegetables than my previous order Did not see any mushrooms in it.

Scam. Never eating here again. They know exactly who they’re serving in this community. Myself and my wife are from Las Vegas, have eaten in more Asian restaurants than I can count. My wife has ordered both lo mein and chow mein from this location and both times we were given plain boiled chicken and the crispy fried noodles that are typically given along side an order as a snack or appetizer. That is not even close to either lo mein or chow mein. Chow mein is a thinner noodle and lo mein is a thicker noodle, BOTH are stir fried along with the chicken vegetables and sauces. This place is scamming their customers, avoid and go somewhere else. When confronted about this the lady at the front simply doubled down and talked to me like I was an idiot who doesn’t know what chow mein is.

Figured I’d stray from my normal Chinese restaurant and try something new (I’ll refrain from mentioning which restaurant that is to express authenticity). My very first experience of the restaurant was that of a lady who answered my call and sounded annoyed from the get-go. I always do my best to be as polite as possible on the phone just for reference. I asked for pick up and thought she couldn’t hear me so I repeated myself, “for pickup, please.” She very rudely replied, “yep, I’m ready. What do you want?!” I simply just replied, “wow, great customer service” and hung up.
I ended up getting the food at my normal spot. The phone call was calm and efficient as always. They accidentally mixed up part of my order (which is extremely rare) but compensated me with a free order of crab rangoons plus extra!
Will not be giving Wing Lee a try, ever. I should’ve listened to the other 1 start reviewers before calling so I didn’t waste my time.

Stopped by here after work on Friday (Memorial Day weekend) around 3:30 and not really much happening. I placed my order and within 15 minutes it was ready as promised. I ordered D3, a combination plate (Egg Roll, Boneless Ribs, Wings, Chicken fingers and Fried Rice for $12.50). This is pretty much what I order every time I’m in the mood for Chinese food, regardless of what Chinese Restaurant I’m at. I also ordered Pork Chop Suey during this stop. The food is not bad, however, it failed to satisfy my cravings. It just did not have the taste (flavor) I was looking for. I guess my taste buds just got spoiled by Chinese Eatery Restaurant (OOB). Unfortunately this establishment closed, much to my (and many others) disappointment. Don’t get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the food at Wing Lee, it’s just a matter of personal taste and preference. This was not my first time here and I’m sure it will also not be the last.

Chow mein is a Chinese dish of stir-fried noodles with vegetables and often meat or tofu…. the photo of what I was given is not that. I would also like to point out that the lo mein is this same dish….

Update: I have ordered a second time and the prices have escalated from under $10 for a lunch combo on the phone to almost $30 when I went to make the payment. I paid for the already prepared meal and respectfully left what was not yet cooked.
It’s a shame because I genuinely enjoyed the food.

Wing Lee use to be good. Now the food went downhill. The orange chicken tasted like fishy chicken. And there was no crisp on the coating. Why coat the chicken if it’s going to be soggy?
The sauce had no flavor. Barely orange. More fish saucy. And why would you put only 1 slice of broccoli? No point in that. It was never like this before. Oh well. Lesson learned, don’t buy the orange chicken. Unless you like it fishy!

Wanted to try it and knew they had tables so we decided just to get food and eat there. Thought the food was ok.Portion was ok. For being there when our food was done and getting it right off it wasn’t very warm. My husband went to throw away our napkins and plastic silverware and it was so filthy over in the area. The trash was under the cabinet so it was the walls looked like they hadn’t been cleaned.Don’t think we will be returning.Had we realized how dirty the place was we probably would of cancelled our order and asked for our money back.Place definitely could use a good cleaning.
