The food came out piping hot and beautifully presented. I started with the meatballs, served in a thick, rich tomato sauce that was bursting with flavour. My wife went for the beetroot and goat’s cheese salad, light, fresh, and perfectly balanced. For mains, she had the fish and chips, a hearty portion with crisp batter and fluffy chips, though she couldn’t quite finish it! I had the “Mr Lamb” shepherd’s pie, which was just what you’d hope for hot, comforting, and very filling.
We both managed dessert (somehow!) and left completely satisfied.
In all, the food was delicious, the atmosphere warm, and the service outstanding. Michelle deserves special mention for making the evening so enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back.
The venue itself is also a strong positive. The interiors are modern and tasteful, the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed, and the space feels clean, welcoming, and comfortable.
Unfortunately, the service was extremely disappointing and overshadowed what should have been a great experience. There was a mistake with the starters, and drinks took a long time to arrive — in fact, they came after the starters. The wine had to be requested twice before it was finally brought out, and when it did arrive it was rudely placed on the table in front of one of the guests. To make matters worse, the bottle was closed, the waiter didn’t pour the wine, and the glasses were only brought over later. After the main course, most plates were cleared from the table, but one was left there for the rest of the meal.
The second round of drinks arrived just 15 minutes before closing time, despite being ordered well in advance and having been sitting on the bar counter.
Overall, this is a lovely place with good food and a very pleasant setting, but the level of service seriously needs improvement
The atmosphere strikes a balance between refined and relaxed—a hallmark of well-executed brand alignment in the hospitality space.
Portion sizes were thoughtfully curated: smaller, well-composed starters served as a good prelude to the generously portioned main courses, allowing the meal to progress at an organic pace. Desserts were a particular highlight—visually boutique and layered with well-developed flavours, clearly showcasing attention to the plating.
Service throughout was lovely. With a genuinely hospitable front-of-house team— including the waitresses, the bar staff, and the restaurant manager—all offering attentive, yet unobtrusive service, with each playing a visible role in enhancing quiet experience. It’s clear that engagement is trained and tailored to be embedded within the team.
Overall, Marco Pierre White Bridgwater delivers a strong expression of brand-led dining—both elevated and accessible. An ideal destination for those seeking quality without pretension.
The service was a total disaster:
We felt unwelcome from the start, with zero smiles or hospitality.
Our order was messed up, and the number of appetizers didn’t match the number of guests.
Basic standards were ignored – we weren’t given spoons until the soup was served, and a bottle was simply thrown on the table without being opened.
Drinks arrived after the appetizers, only half the order was delivered, and we had to beg for the rest and then wait for glassware.
Nobody checked if the food was okay or cleared our plates; we sat with dirty dishes until the end.
To top it off, we were only asked about more drinks or dessert 15 minutes before closing.
Even if the kitchen is doing its job, the front-of-house is failing them miserably. We won’t be returning.
