If you’re looking for real, authentic Korean flavors, this is the spot. Every dish tasted just like a home-cooked meal my mom would make — comforting, nostalgic, and incredibly delicious. And the prices are spectacular!!! Amazing for the quality you get. A must-try! I’ll definitely be back!!!

Comforting, Flavorful, and Truly Authentic
Jang Dok Dae is a hidden gem for Korean comfort food. I had the beef soup, and it was absolutely incredible rich and bubbly deeply flavorful broth with tender beef and perfectly balanced seasoning. It tasted really authentic in the best way possible. The side dishes were fresh and plentiful, the service was absolutely warm, and the cozy vibe made the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for real Korean flavors done right, this place is a must try. I Recommend this restaurant.

TL;DR: Currently one of my favorite restaurants in all of Georgia. Food is consistent and yummy.

Admittedly, I haven’t tried too many dishes on their menu as I can’t seem to convince myself to try something new because their spicy galbi-jjim (pork braised short rib stew – which is “A13” on their menu for $13.99) is just too craveable. This might be my favorite Korean dish, at least currently. It’s savory, a little salty, a little sweet, and it’s spicy. It’s really just comforting. Highly recommend. It is a bit spicy, so beware if your heat tolerance is questionable.

I have tried their Grilled Mackerel (wife’s favorite thing to order “B1” – $15.99) and their Cold Buckwheat Noodles (“D1” – $12.99).

The grilled mackerel is yummy. Unfortunately being as it’s fish, it does contain a lot of little bones you gotta deal with while eating… But again, it’s to be expected (fish).

The cold buckwheat noodle soup is tasty and very refreshing, especially on a hot day. To most people, a cold soup would sound strange, but it definitely works. Great balance of sweet, salty, umami flavors. It comes with a little vinegar and mustard condiments. Just add a little of each. Would recommend.

I have had some of their other dishes, but the ones mentioned are the most recently and frequently ordered. Haven’t had any bad dishes there yet.

The bonchon is quite good as well. They of course always serve the staples like kimchi, bean sprouts, radish, etc but they also seem to include a new/different bonchon frequently which is nice.

The inside is fairly small but it’s pretty cute. They did a pretty good job of making it feel like being inside a quaint restaurant in Seoul (I’ve been to Korea).

The service has always been good. Each table has a button you can press if you need to speak with the server or need something. With that said, I’ve never had to use it as they’re quite good at ensuring my cup of water is never sitting empty for too long.

I would certainly recommend giving this place a try. Just know that English is not the servers’ primary language, so if you have questions about the menu, it might be a bit challenging. But thankfully that’s a non-issue for me since I just order the A13 and chow down when it arrives.

As long as this place is open (and they don’t make too many changes to their menu), I’ll continue to come back.

This is a very nice Korean restaurant. They have a lot of side dishes besides of main dishes. They offer many combos and options for the sides which you can share as big group or personal dish. The atmosphere of the restaurant is really warm welcoming. We went there with big group so we got private room and it was so nice and cozy. Some food was served on hot plates to keep them warm on the table.

Jang Dok Dae is a super cozy Korean restaurant in Duluth near hmart! We came for dinner and shared some noodles (kalguksu), seafood pancake, and bulgogi stir fry.

Everything here was amazing and I would recommend all three dishes! The service was also fantastic and we had a good variety of banchan to share with dinner as well 🙂

I think one of the more decent Korean restaurants I had while in Atlanta. I had samgyetang, which I always like, and they did a solid job here. The banchan was not much of a standout. I like that they have a variety of offerings, I tried some of my family member’s dishes and they were all good (but nothing to write home about).

At Jang Dok Dae, a traditional Korean restaurant, patrons can experience authentic Korean cuisine. The staff members are welcoming and accommodating, though they utilize a button system to signal for their attention, ensuring efficient service. The array of side dishes offered were delectable, elevating the dining experience. While the soup I ordered lacked robust flavor initially, the provision of salt allowed for personalizing the taste to my preference. The restaurant maintains a high standard of cleanliness, contributing to a comfortable dining environment. Overall, Jang Dok Dae provides a delightful immersion into Korean culinary tradition, with attentive service and flavorful dishes.

very authentic Korean restaurant!! You cant find easily this level of quality even in Korea. Very VERY delicious. cozy and friendly atmosphere. Nokdujeon is pretty awesome. Their chicken soup is great. Yookgyejang is the best! Really large bowl and just perfect taste. Our family’s favorite place in Duluth.

Their soups are the best! Every soup based dish I chose came amazing. The C7 hotpot, with cod was to die for. The seafood pancake is also an appetizer to get. Had combo 2 with bean paste stew and spicy crab, both went great with the provided rice. The only downside of this place is their kalbi, super dry and chewy.

This is the perfect place to stop and have refreshingly hot soups on the way home from a road trip. The lady who served us was attentive and kind. Everything we had was good. $9.99 lunch specials cannot be beat. I wish we lived closer.
