Etna is one of my favourite places. A real diamond in the rough atmosphere where an unassuming restaurant is full of character and charm. The food is great and the atmosphere is lovely, I’ve never seen this place quiet. Portions are a bit smaller so order 3 mains between 2, but this means more chance to try different things. I graduated from Lancaster a few years ago but every trip back involves dinner at Etna. Thank you for the wonderful memories and dinners

Never thought I would find great Italian food in Lancaster but Etna surprised me. The dish I ordered is full of favours and the meat sauce is to die for. Highly recommended. Service is ok and tables fill up very fast dieing dinner hours.

I’m not a regular reviewer but I had to say something about this little gem of a restaurant. My family of seven plus a little baby went for a long lunch on Christmas Eve to celebrate my wife’s birthday and we are still smiling and talking about it. It was perfect. Really great satisfying food and wines. Incredible welcome and good, relaxed family run service. Such a pleasure. Get there early if you want the outstanding and generous meatballs. They only make a few and when they’re gone they’re gone. Spectacular.

I hadn’t been here for many years, it was a treat to visit back in the early 80’s. Last night we returned, a pre birthday treat from my son and his Fiancée. It was as if time had stood still.
Still a family run restaurant and now a third generation, helping out.
The food, well it’s amazing the atmosphere, close your eyes and you’re in Sicily, and of course the host as well as the family and staff are attentive, funny and welcoming.

It will be once again our favourite place.
Thank you!

Went to Etna’s around 2 years ago and it was amazing, so thought I’d go again. Unfortunately, I did not have the same experience recently. Ordered two pizzas and a beer and it cost a whopping £43. Not to mention, they charged £4 for a very small jug of tap water. For the size of the food, it is so incredibly overpriced that to say it’s not worth it would be an understatement. The food wasn’t bad, but it’s not hard to cook two margherita pizzas. Just one of them cost £17.

If you’re deciding between here and somewhere else, I promise you, it would be a better decision to go elsewhere unless you’re rich looking for a way to waste your money on mediocre overpriced food. I truly don’t take pleasure in saying things like this, I would much rather have had a better experience and write something positive, but here we are.

It’s very obvious, but I won’t be returning to Etna’s again. It’s not worth it and I would have a much better experience literally anywhere else. If you’re looking for Italian food, I would recommend Pizza Margherita in Lancaster.

Only a small place so booking recommended, smell of garlic and Italian food cooking tempted the taste buds when you walk in. Decent choice on the menu, staff were friendly. Portion size wasn’t over facing and reflected in reasonable price. Obviously a regular haunt for some as owner knew his Customers which is always a good advert.

We visited during Light up Lancaster after reading a rave review for Etna. We both grew up in the area in 60/70s so where impressed it had been there since we left which is so rare. As others have said its a warm, welcoming and atmospheric place. The young waiter said only tables upstairs (husband remembered it originally as a coffee bar with a jukebox). Maitre D came forward and gave us ‘his table’, great guy you can see why it has lasted. Great food and wine. Wouldn’t hesitate to visit again …Etna is like Lancaster itself .. small but with a huge broad history..

Went to Etna first in December 1979. It was a magical experience. Went there last in 1982. Another magical experience. Th food was absolutely beautiful, as was the ambience and the staff. Hopefully, I’ll visit the restaurant again when I return to the UK in the next few years.

Avoid going…
The food was terrible!
Pizza base tasted like a pancake and was weirdly cakey, and the toppings on the pizza weren’t fresh, mushrooms from a can, olives from a very old can, chicken slices from a packet, and a couple of strangely sweet peppers… genuinely struggled to eat it which is saying something considering it was the size of a CD! And it was nearly £20!!!
The waiter was really unprofessional and awkward to be around.
Whoever owns this place is trying to scam you by selling you a small amount of cheap dog food at decent restaurant prices… avoid!

This restaurant is amazing!
After having walking out of another restaurant due to them having no gluten free options we came here by chance to receive the best Italian welcome.
With my partner being Italian we experience real Italian food every day and Etna delivered that authentic Italian atmosphere and taste.
Mimmo and his 2 sons are fantastic and I can see why this restaurant has been going for over 50 years, this is a must visit for anyone in the area looking for that true Italian experience.
Thank you so much guys for a fabulous evening and we will make this our go to place to eat every time we visit my family
