My buddy wanted to try this place after seeing a YouTube video. Stop by for lunch on a rainy afternoon. No line and was seated right away. We both ordered the Pork Tonkatsu Curry and shared takoyaki for appetizer. Takoyaki had a good amount of octopus and not too floury. The curry was flavorful and a bit on the sweeter side. The pork tonkatsu was crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside, with the rice and extra for the egg, it was a satisfying lunch. Also the price is good for the portions.

I ordered from Shogun Tonkatsu & Curry through Uber Eats, and everything arrived fresh and well packed.

The beef egg udon was super flavorful, and the onsen egg was perfect– soft, silky and blended beautifully with the broth.

The pork cutlet set was real crunchy, even for delivery, and the Japanese pickles were a nice touch, I love pickled things, though the pork cutlet portion was a bit small. I was sad there was only 4 pieces. The set came with a miso soup and a cabbage salad, that dressing was to die for!

Its very hard to satisfy me with agedashi tofu, no one seems to get it right, but they did! It was on point, crispy outside, soft inside, minced radish, and the sauce had that deep umami flavor.

The chicken katsu curry was a standout– big portion, 8 pieces! Cripsy katsu and the curry was delicious!

The service was great. It’s a small space so it’s homey and you know you’ll be attended to. The food was super good!! I definitely recommend the daikon salad for an appetizer. If you’re looking for Japanese curry or something new, I recommend this spot!

Hello, boss. Most of the other food in your restaurant is actually decent, and the Japanese skewers are grilled quite well.
However, your signature tonkotsu udon is an absolute disaster.

The way you’ve “modified” this udon doesn’t appeal to Asians or Japanese customers, nor does it appeal to American or Western customers. The broth is far too thick, too salty, and oddly sour.

I strongly suggest using a diluted, lighter tonkotsu broth, keeping it clean and refreshing — no sugar and no sour flavors. In its current form, this tonkotsu udon is a complete failure.

You should really invite some Asian or Japanese customers to do a tasting and give you honest feedback. The tonkotsu udon featured on the posters hanging on your wall is, frankly, extremely bad.

18.5 + tax for three full size katsu that aren’t little meatballs!

I did order the dressing on the side for the cabbage. Unlimited cabbage and rice refills.

I order the “HIRE (he-reh) katsu style as it’s less fatty meat cut.

I had been craving a good Tonkatsu for a while but wasn’t sure where to find one nearby. So, I turned to Google and began researching local options. Eventually, I came across a restaurant not far from my house. It had only 19 reviews, but an impressive average rating of 4.5 stars. While the number of reviews wasn’t enough to fully rely on, the feedback seemed promising — so I decided to give it a try.
I ordered the Thick-Cut Pork Loin Set, while my friend went with the Chicken Katsu Set. The server who greeted us was polite and professional, setting a great tone for our dining experience.
Our meals arrived in about 15 minutes, and I was immediately impressed by the presentation. The plating was meticulous — you could tell the chef takes real pride in their work. One piece of the pork katsu was propped up to showcase its thickness, and the golden-brown color was beautiful. It looked perfectly cooked, and as it turned out, it was.
Despite the thick cut, the pork loin was incredibly juicy — tender on the inside with a light, crispy coating on the outside. The balance of texture and flavor was spot-on, making it truly satisfying. The set came with a bowl of steamed rice, miso soup, edamame, pickled radish, and a refreshing cabbage salad finely sliced. Every component was thoughtfully prepared and served piping hot.
As for the pork loin — it was absolutely delicious. Honestly, one of the best Tonkatsu dishes I’ve ever had. And I’ve tried quite a few over the years. I also sampled my friend’s chicken katsu, and it was just as flavorful and well-executed.
Portion sizes were generous, and the restaurant even offered free refills on rice and cabbage salad — something I’ve rarely, if ever, seen at a non-buffet Japanese restaurant.
If you’re a fan of katsu dishes or pork loin in general, I highly recommend checking this place out. You won’t regret it.

Went here with friends to try their omurice. My friend and I ordered the same thing. My other friend got the katsudon. The first omurice arrived sliced, which was unexpected. We asked if we could have the next one served whole (like the ones you see on social media) just to experience it. Instead of slicing it at our table, my friend was called to the window and they sliced it there. It didn’t look as nice as we’d hoped. The taste was ok, and it was served with plain steamed rice instead of fried rice. Given the price, I dont’ think it was worth it.

I ordered pork tenderloin katsu on the side, and that was really good— well-seasoned and cooked perfectly. However, the katsu sauce didn’t really stand out.

Service was great, and our server was very accommodating.

I wanted to give this place another try, so a couple of days later, I ordered katsudon for delivery. Unfortunately, it was salty and the flavor was off. The miso soup, on the other hand, was good. Overall, I’m not sure if I’ll come back.

**Executive Summary**
Shogun Tonkatsu & Curry in Las Vegas is a culinary gem that offers an exceptional dining experience. Their Ebi Shrimp Fry Set, a standout dish, features extra-jumbo prawns enveloped in a brilliantly crisp panko crust. This dish is complemented by traditional Japanese miso soup, a refreshing shredded cabbage salad, perfectly steamed rice, and a delightful assortment of tsukemono (Japanese pickles). The unique synergy of textures and the impeccably balanced side components transform this classic Japanese comfort food into a sublime culinary adventure. With a consistent track record of five-star reviews for service, Shogun is a must-visit for enthusiasts of katsu and fried Japanese cuisine. The recent addition of omurice on October 12, 2024, further cements its status as an essential destination for katsu lovers.

**Ambiance & Setting**
Stepping inside Shogun Tonkatsu & Curry, guests are welcomed into a modest yet inviting dining room. The authentic Japanese aesthetic, with warm wooden features, minimalist wall art, and cozy booths, creates an intimate and comfortable atmosphere. The soft, ambient lighting accentuates subtle decorations, crafting a serene backdrop that beautifully contrasts with the lively sounds emanating from the open kitchen. The thoughtfully designed layout comfortably accommodates solo diners seeking a tranquil meal and small groups searching for a cozy gathering spot, offering a refreshing pause from the energy of eastern Las Vegas.

**The Ebi Shrimp Fry Set: A Masterclass in Contrast**
The Ebi Shrimp Fry Set is the heart of the dining experience at Shogun Tonkatsu & Curry. It features three impressive extra-jumbo prawns coated in a light, airy layer of panko breadcrumbs. The prawns are fried to perfection, boasting a shatteringly crisp shell that yields effortlessly to reveal the tender, juicy nectar. Each bite is a testament to the meticulous temperature control and skilled frying, allowing the natural sweetness of the prawn to shine unimpeded by excessive oil or heavy batter. The hand-shredded cabbage salad, lightly dressed with a tangy sesame vinaigrette, serves as a refreshing, crunchy counterpoint, cleansing the palate between indulgent bites of fried goodness.

**Miso Soup & Accompaniments**
The accompanying miso soup is served piping hot, its fragrant, umami-rich broth generously infused with delicate cubes of tofu and nutrient-rich wakame seaweed. This soothing warmth perfectly complements the crisp shrimp, enhancing the sensory experience. A generous bowl of flawlessly steamed Japanese short-grain rice serves as a canvas for the meal, its subtly sticky texture perfect for soaking up curry sauce or the rich juices from the dish. Finally, the vibrant assortment of Japanese pickles—including crisp takuan, zingy cucumber, and delicate radish—introduces bright, tangy notes that elevate the meal’s flavor profile, adding a delightful contrast to the richer elements of the dish.

**Service Excellence**
Patrons consistently praise Shogun’s attentive and knowledgeable staff, whose gracious hospitality transforms every visit into a memorable event. Orders are delivered promptly, while servers are proactive in replenishing hot tea and providing insights into the menu items without being intrusive. This level of front-of-house professionalism harmonizes seamlessly with the kitchen’s high culinary standards.

**Conclusion & Recommendation**
For aficionados of fried Japanese fare, the Ebi Shrimp Fry Set at Shogun Tonkatsu & Curry stands among the best in Las Vegas, masterfully combining impeccable frying techniques with harmonious side dishes and exceptional service. I wholeheartedly recommend that regular patrons and first-time visitors consider Shogun their preferred secondary destination for katsu and curry classics. On my next visit, I eagerly anticipate sampling the newly introduced omurice—a promising addition that will further solidify Shogun’s reputation for innovative takes on traditional Japanese comfort food.

Excellent! We got the deep fried scallop & chicken katsu appetizers. We also got the shrimp tempura curry & pork loin katsu curry with extra shrimp. Everything was delicious. The curry was spot on but a little mild for our taste buds. Adding spice & Sriracha helped, but they could probably kick up the heat a bit. $80 out the door for two including drinks … pretty reasonable for such a great meal.

Stopped here for the first time the other week and got some katsu curry. It used to be a ramen bar, but they’ve switched it up, so be aware if you’re looking for ramen. I went in to pick up on my way home, and had a beer while I waited. They have Asahi on tap. Service was good, very polite. Didn’t take long, maybe 5-10 minutes at most. Was relatively quiet when I went. Would definitely go again.
