In the past two months, I had the chance to stop by the Pompton Lakes location and it’s definitely a step up from the Totowa one. First of all, because it’s located in the same plaza as the Lidl there’s a lot of parking. It’s very cozy and nicely decorated inside. I really enjoy the Latin music from Reggaeton, Salsa, Merengue, and Cumbia.

Both times I visited I got the $15 grilled chicken platter.

Definitely recommend it! The ladies who work there are very nice and I wasn’t expecting that they bring the food to the table.

PS: Try their homemade hot sauce.

I never experienced eating at the restaurant. As a trucker I order through Uber Eats. So far I ordered from Sombrero Tacoria twice. Each meal was delicious and fresh. My all time favorite is their (5x⭐️) Tres Leche: So flavorful! I never found a Mexican Restaurant that with such presentation. Especially the cake

Yvonne really took care of my wife and I, our first time eating here and I already know I’m coming back. We tried pretty much one of each dish, different kinds of meats, and loved it all!

Service was perfect and very friendly it reminded me of home. That could also be said about the atmosphere it is so on theme without overdoing it !

Stopped by for lunch today. Nice atmosphere and ambiance. Tried the steak, fish, and shrimp tacos. All were small, 4 bite, single corn tortilla tacos. The shrimp was a bit overdone, really liked the fish, and the steak was on point. I ordered the trio, which was $12, but was charged individually @$4.50 each. Quesadilla was really good. There’s an ordering kiosk, 2 high top tables of 6, 5 tables for 2, and a table for 4. It is a good place overall, but venture down the road for more authentic, larger tacos.

I gave this place three opportunities, the first time the food was great and I was excited for a new place in town. The last two times have an absolute disaster, the older lady with glasses needs some serious training. She goes a million miles an hour and makes the worst burritos. Both times I clearly picked NO PICO, guess that wasn’t clear enough on the receipt, but I got PICO, ruining my meal both times. I even asked her and she confirmed that it’s not in the burritos. If you love rice that’s all you are going to get, nothing is balanced out, all ingredients are on one side of the burrito, she puts zero effort into making them. I asked for extra protein, I barley received anything, they load them up with rice. It’s a shame that a simple meal is this hard to get right. I wish this place the best, but they will close if this continues, I hope the owner reads this, try your own food and you will understand.

No bueno! This is not authentic Mexican food! Chicken tacos were dry, served with cheddar cheese?!? Authentic would be cojita!
The music was VERY loud, left hungry and disappointed!
My husband had the burrito, something was burnt tasting, the Birria or the tortilla. Still on the hunt for authentic , this is not it!

Mom and I stumbled upon this charming gem! Yvonne was incredibly kind, patient, and helpful during our first visit. Prices vary, but all servings are substantial. And the churros? A dream. DELICIOUS.

Everything is made to order. The kitchen and toppings bar (enclosed for staff use only) are enticing with fresh produce. The space was vibrant with beautiful murals. It smelled clean, looked clean, tasted amazing, and felt like home.

I almost forgot! We took two additional meals to go—they were labeled and packaged beautifully. Each meal was packaged separately, stable in bags, and the bags were adorable.

I have loved Sombrero Tacoria for awhile now, AMAZING Birria Tacos! Up until recently, I’ve had to travel to or have them delivered from Ridgewood, but no longer! They’re now available right in my neighborhood

My first time ordering, I placed the order online, but to the wrong location. Once I arrived, looking for my order, my mistake was realized, and even though I was happy to drive to the original location to pick up, Ivonne happily remade my order. She got on the phone and found out exactly what my order was, and I was leaving with my tacos within minutes! Thanks, Ivonne, for the excellent customer service, beautifully decorated restaurant, and consistently delicious food! I’ll be back FOR SURE (and have been multiple times since!)
