Shinobu Sushi Restaurant – Japanese restaurant in Golden …
Reviews
The sushi was decent, aside from the red snapper tempura and miso soup which was great, everything else was an average sushi experience. The nigiri was very different with a heavy fish to rice ratio serving very thick slices of fish. Not to my preference but if you are a sashimi person I’m sure you’d love it!
The staff was friendly and service was quick, the interior is small and still has COVID screens up which made the space feel really cramped. Other than that it’s clean and pleasant looking.
Overall a decent experience! 3.3/5
Wow! The food Shinobu is able to serve out of such a small kitchen and restaurant is truly amazing. I have personally eaten at a number of really nice Japanese restaurants around the city, and Shinobu is at the top of my list.
Reservations are highly recommended as the dining room is a bit on the small side.
Sushi and entrees were next level that I cannot stop thinking about. The fried sea bass was especially delightful. There was a very nice selection of specials, which I really like.
Details down to the garnishes were cut and prepared with painstaking care. There was a piece of cucumber sliced into art.
I will return, and if you like Japanese food, you would be remiss if you don’t try Shinobu!
Our favourite dishes over the years that have remained consistent since the restaurant has been around include the seared mackerel, miso eggplant, and the hotate dream roll.
We definitely ordered a bit too much for two people but no regrets 🙂 We made the decision to order again midway through the meal as we have a habit of wanting to try more at times!
This is definitely a great go-to regular spot if you live in the neighborhood and are craving for authentic Japanese food. If you’re not from the neighbourhood it is still worth the visit for a hospitable and delicious meal. Best to call ahead to ensure you have a spot.

The octopus karaage were also quite unique, kind of reminded me of a chicken skewer but has a bounce in the bite.
