I really wanted to enjoy my visit to Hugh’s BBQ, but unfortunately some parts of the meal missed the mark for me. The pulled pork was very oily, with a lot of grease pooling in the tray so I didn’t eat it . My boyfriend got the pulled chicken and it was good! The mac and cheese was mushy like it had been over cooked and the potato salad was heavy on the celery flavor and not very good I didn’t eat it either.
The lemonade seemed like it may have come from a machine that needed cleaning. On a positive note, the baked beans were good they were more on the chili side and tasted better with a little extra BBQ sauce, the sauces themselves weren’t very good. We ended up trying the banana pudding and it was really good definitely the best part along with the Texas toast.

Best pulled chicken I’ve ever had… Tender, moist, flavorful..I tried all three of the sauces on the table with it. The amount of food was great for the price, and the service was awesome. I’ve already recommended it to friends and family! Pickled onions on the side were a nice touch! Definitely coming back.

What a great find. We looked for a good BBQ place in Hickory, and this was the one with the highest rating. It lived up to the reviews.
Our server was Aspen and she was awesome. Service was quick and she was very knowledgeable about the menu. Her recommendations were spot on.
We had brisket, pulled pork, and ribs for our meat, and they were all excellent. The sides were very good as well. We had fried okra, fries, jalapeño cheese grits, and hush puppies.
Overall experience was excellent and I would highly recommend this restaurant. If we get back through Hickory, we will definitely go back.

After spending the afternoon restoring some dim foggy headlights for a customer nearby, I stopped in to try Hugh’s Q — and I’m really glad I did.
The atmosphere is amazing, the place is very clean, and it’s the kind of spot where you immediately feel comfortable walking in.
The service is excellent and always comes with a smile, which makes the whole experience even better.
The quality of the food is amazing, the prices are very reasonable, and the portions are generous. Everything is cooked perfectly on site with authentic BBQ flavor.
I highly recommend the brisket plate with two sides — absolutely delicious and done just right.
After a long day restoring Dim Foggy headlights back to life, this was the perfect place to relax and enjoy some incredible BBQ.
If you’re in Hickory, this place is definitely worth the stop.

Some good Q at this place. Fall off the bone ribs. Tender and tasty pulled pork. Sides were all a hit. Lady working the counter was friendly and helpful with picking out our order.

The brisket was wonderful! My husband had pulled pork and he normally covers pork with sauce but he said it was so good it didn’t need any sauce! Service was great, food arrived quickly even though they were very busy. Generous portions. Highly recommended!

Man… travelled here for a show stopped to look for something to eat. We found this place, figured we’d give it a try. Wasn’t packed at all so was kind of sus, but let me tell you… we order appetizers AMAZING, I ordered the three meat plate AMAZING. And considering we were late the tenderness and freshness of the meat was crazy. Super great prices, friendly people, and clean. Will be back.

Excellent. Hands down, I recommend it. The staff was fantastic, the food incredible. I could have eaten a bowlful of the hush puppies. The 2+2 was too much good for only me. I ate the left overs with a salad the next night. The banana pudding ended up a midnight snack.
