First time here and had the best experience from the moment I walked in and was greater with the best smell of sweet bread! I honestly felt like i was home and everything was fresh from the concha’s to empanadas. If you want great tasting sweetbread and the kindest customer service La Mexicana Bakery is definitely worthwhile.

Extremely delicious, bread is always soft and fresh! Establishment is very clean and well cared for, prices are great!! I got 4 large donuts, 2 large concha’s, a large pig in the blanket, and a breakfast taco (potato & egg) for $9. The portions are very generous for the price and I especially love how considerately they bagged my bread. A lot of bakeries just throw your pieces in a bag on top of each other and they get all squished. The young lady that assisted me organized my bag so thoughtfully, and it prompted this review because it stood out to me. This place is much better than any chain bakeries or donut shops such as Shipley’s or Dunkin’s. 10/10!

As soon as my plane lands in the valley our first stop is La Mexicana. One has never bitten into the softest, tastiest conchas. Their concha recipe is one of the best, no egg smell, not laden with artificial flavors, just tasty soft bread I remember eating from the back of a van that would honk its horn as it passed through our little neighborhood. It’s a cute little shop and continually fills its bread warmer with fresh warm concha’s throughout the day. Prices are comparable to other bakeries in the area. Experience some of the best Mexican cuisine in Texas, the RGV.
