Kabayan Kusina: Savor Authentic Filipino Flavors in San Antonio
Reviews
My little taste buds are so happy… it’s been forever since I last ate pancit and lumpia.
We ordered both lunch specials and brought more than half of each home because we wanted to save room for dessert… Halo-Halo. Oh my gosh! So good. And it’s PURPLE!
Highly recommend!
We had pinakbet with rice, lumpia, and the halo-halo. I wish I could go back tomorrow! It’s definitely worth a try and I’m so glad it’s close to my house. ❤️
We ordered the Chicken Adobo, Ginisang Monggo Lechon (mung bean & fried pork belly stew), Pancit Bihon (Pork & noodles), and Sago Gulaman (plant-based jelly and tapioca drink). The dishes are family style, so they can be shared by all. My wife has more experience with Filipino food and she really enjoyed the food.
The service was the real highlight here. They were very friendly and attentive.
The atmosphere was a bit sterile like a cafeteria but at least it had nice large wood tables and some design to it. The atmosphere was far better than many other pinoy places.
The service was lightning-fast, which was a pleasant surprise, especially given how packed the place was. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the whole experience even better.
Now, let’s talk about the food: absolutely delicious! Every bite transported me straight back to the Philippines. It’s rare to find Filipino cuisine this authentic outside of the homeland. The flavors were rich, bold, and hit all the right notes. On top of that, the portions were massive—definitely great value for the price.
This place easily ranks in my top 3 Filipino restaurants in Texas. If you’re in San Antonio, don’t miss it—you’ll leave with a full stomach and a happy heart!
Price is high, but quality, presentation, and cleanliness are worth it. We’d definitely come back as a fam of 5 ages 18 mo-5ish decades of life.
Service was mostly amazing! 3 out of 4 workers we were serviced by are wonderful and made it up for the miscommunication with one of the servers, who got cranky…I didn’t hear clearly which dishes were dropped off and got another table’s 2 dishes. Similar dishes but not quite what we ordered. We accidentally started eating one, as we thought we ordered wrong. Not everyone speaks Tagalog, but the rest of the staff understood this and made us very comfortable. Thank you for the wonderful experience!
