Delicious pasta and pizza are served at this relatively new addition to the Truckee food scene. Tucked away in an unassuming business plaza, the menu here was created a former chef from SF’s Flour & Water. Everything tasted fresh and lovingly prepared, and even though the pasta and the pizza were very tasty, the grilled branzino was possibly even better! We loved the quaint ambiance, along with the friendly and efficient service. Large free parking lots on both sides of the restaurant. We will definitely be back for more!

It feels more like a pizza-focused restaurant than a pasta-driven one. The pasta, considering the price (which is on par with well-known pasta spots in San Francisco), lacks some finesse and detail, and it’s a bit disappointing that the noodles aren’t house-made for the price. The texture is too starchy. I noticed that they tend to cook the pizza and most of dishes well-done.
Overall, though, it may well be the most upscale Italian restaurant in Truckee. Just being able to enjoy food of San Francisco–level quality in this town makes it well worth a visit.

Ate here for a family dinner and was amazed. My family had eaten here before and had nothing but good things to say about the restaurant. Therefore my expectations were high, but nevertheless I was still shocked by how lovely of a time I had. Everything about this restaurant is great, from the service to the food, it was a wonderful experience. Out server was very friendly and had a great vibe. The food was delicious. We got the pizza of the day (veggie pizza) and many different pasta dishes. The triangoli was definitely the best and a hit with my family. This was definitely a family dinner for the books, thank you.

Pretty impressed overall with this restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was pretty good. The prices are what you would expect from a tourist town but overall very pleased with everything. Portion sizing was good. Bathrooms were clean.

Absolutely delicious. We went with our full family, including a baby and a toddler, to celebrate a birthday, and the experience couldn’t have been better. The service was fantastic! Stuart was our waiter!
We stayed the whole evening and shared pizzas, pastas, salads, and dessert, everything was excellent. Easily the most upscale Italian food I’ve had in Truckee so far. Great ambiance too.
They were fully booked, so definitely make a reservation. Also appreciated the little touches for kids (crayons!) and how welcoming it felt. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a more elevated dining experience.

Super delicious! Great Gold is doing it right. The fresh pasta was some of the best we’ve had! Highly recommend the cacio pepe. The pizzas were very tasty. The crust was perfect and the pizza itself wasn’t too greasy. Stuart was a great server! Friendly and chill. We will definitely be back!

Jess was our server and she was excellent. Knowledgeable about the menu and very attentive even though the place was bustling and very busy. We had the Sunflower Caesar Salad which was nice and enough for 4 of us to share. We ordered 3 pizzas and liked the spicy salami and three cheese but were not a fan of the prosciutto/arugula which was dry and the prosciutto was cut too thick so not great from a compliment to the texture/ eating experience. Finished with tiramisu which was excellent.

This Italian restaurant serves the best eggplant parmigiana I’ve ever had! The dish is perfectly layered, with tender, flavorful eggplant, rich marinara, and just the right amount of melted cheese. I was treated to an extraordinarily fantastic birthday dinner here at Great gold! I wish I knew the name of our waiter he was extremely attentive and knowledgeable and so very very kind! The linguine clams was a dish not to be missed if you enjoy such! So incredibly tasty and the clams were so fresh! And I have to mention the gelato as a dessert tasted just like I was in Italy again!

Really great pizza and service. Learned that it’s a sister restaurant to flour and water in SF. We brought our toddlers with us and our server, Stewart, was accommodating, empathetic and had lots of great recs. He even ran out to the parking lot to bring us our daughter’s bottle that we had forgotten. We’ll be back (if we can land a reservation again…)
