I got there right when they opened was greeted by Big C himself. I wasn’t sure if i wanted chicken or not, so he gave me two big pieces to taste and it was delicious! I ordered the chicken dinner with yams and mac and cheese with an extra side of potato salad. Since they were still finishing opening he through in a free dessert. Service and food were both amazing. You can tell he really cared about his business and customer experiences. Thanks Big C!

Cute hole in the wall mom and pop type shop. Known for their $5 chopped chicken. BBQ sauce has a mustard base. Good food. They sell cups of Kool-Aid which is so nostalgic and tasty. They also have a nice Oreo cheesecake that’s more mousse than cheesecake.

Ordered the Rib Dinner ($15) at Big C’s Barbecue on 9th Street in St. Petersburg. Small place with a few tables and limited parking but mostly take-out. Ribs were tender, moist and juicy. The sauce was a tangy sweet yellow that was a perfect mix. Dinner came with yams and a crab salad that were both good, not exceptional, but the ribs were delicious. Friendly lady at the counter (Camora) was very helpful and nice. Not a huge portion and this hungry man ate every bite for lunch. This is the kind of local, small, quality food place that is a pleasure to visit and recognize. I highly recommend the food I ate and will return. Delicious!

Big Cs in really good in a city that isn’t bursting with standout BBQ. Big Cs is up there with the handful of legit spots with great BBQ. I get chopped beef and my wife gets ribs. Both are always delicious. Service is fast and friendly. Highly recommend if you’re looking for real BBQ in St Pete

First things first, there were no tables and it was take-out only. I didn’t know that going in, but we made it work and ate on the hood of the car in the parking lot on a beautiful evening.
The food was great. I got the ribs and chicken, mac and cheese, and yams. Everything was at least pretty good, but THIS CHICKEN is the star. Big chunks of bone in dark meat chicken, beautiful moist interior, browned and smoked on the outside, and smothered in a tangy but not too sweet sauce. The $5 chicken box is no joke the best $5 I’ve spent in years. And they had orange Faygo in the cooler.

Excellent BBQ. The BF got the ribs and he couldn’t stop moaning and groaning how good it was while stuffing his face. Rids are so tender…fall off the bone!!! I got the 5.00 chicken and its definitely the very best I’ve ever had! So tender and flavorful. We will be back!

I was pleasantly surprised by this place! The food is absolutely amazing. The sides are everything! Collard greens, mac n cheese, baked beans, crab salad…. just wow. We also had the ribs, chopped beef and chicken but the sides are the star of the show. Make sure you get the banana pudding too! Tell them Tampa sent you!!! 🙂
