This is one of my all time favorite Mexican restaurants. We come from Nashville to eat here. The pineapple fajitas are the best. If you’re in the area, you MUST check this place out.

The food is definitely excellent and generous in portions. Definitely one of my favorite in the area, the overall atmosphere isn’t fancy to say the least—definitely run down, but is a cozy place and usually not too loud. The service is quick and accommodating.

The name was a bit confusing as we see “La Ranchera” in most places online but the receipt prints as “El Maquey”.
Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 – ordered a Guadalajara (one chicken burrito and one chicken enchilada) and their special on the board of Fajitas Portobello. The chicken in the burrito was quite dry and the whole dish was flavored only by the red sauce. Their special was quite good though as the protein was flavorful and the cheese and portobello was absolutely delicious!
Service: 5/5 – quick service and to the point. There was a bit of a language difficulty though.
Ambiance: n/a – ordered food to go. The entry way of the restaurant was very crowded and there were quite a few times were customers bumped each other as they turned the corner.
Value for price: 4/5 – food quality differed quite heavily depending on the item. Would do fajita again, wouldn’t touch the chicken though!

El Maguey is it’s new name. Excellent, authentic real Mexican food, Guadalajara. I had the spinach enchilada with rice and beans. The tortillas seemed fresh made not your store bought variety. The filling was delicious without cheese (vegan) and rice was tasty. The refried beans were yum and not from a can. It all came out hot and seemed freshly cooked. Arizona has good Mexican food. This restaurant just joined them as one of the Best. They chips and salsa were scrumptious. Yeah. Nice family restaurant. May They thrive.

We make sure to come here every chance we get when in town to hike the fiery gizzard trail. The Hawaiian Fajitas and any taco made to order are the best, ever! Highly recommend!

Only 5 minutes away from the popular Fiery Gizzard north trailhead! After hiking 13+ miles, this is the perfect dinner stop. The food is delicious and filling. Two things you really want after a long hard hike. Menu name says “El Maguey” on it so I’m unsure what this restaurant is actually called. I had the pollo con queso with a side of refried beans. Great portion sizes! Food came out quick and very hot. Highly recommend this little restaurant in Tracy City after a hike in the state park.

This place is absolutely delicious. The ingredients are always fresh and the food is consistently tasty and filling. I got the chicken tortilla soup, and it was divine.
The guacamole casera is another highlight of the menu. You can see the quality of the ingredients right on the dish. You also can’t go wrong with the white queso.
The staff is friendly and attentive. One note: you pay at the front register when you’re ready rather than waiting on the servers.

The food was good but also your typical Mexican food. The cheese dip was a little runny and not quite as hot as most queso is, but the flavor was fine. No margaritas here and draft is either 12oz or 32oz. Wish I could have gotten a size in the middle. Server was super nice and maybe it was the owner/manager came by the table to make sure our server stopped by to get our drink order. We would definitely stop by again if in the area!

Food was authentic and I got the vegetarian chimichanga so service was quick and the menu had a large selection. We were surprised by the vegetarian options and knew this place was once we tried the chips and salsa they provide complimentary.
Service was prompt and friendly. Such a nice spot in Tracy City after a hike at Foster Falls.
After living in Los Angeles and Washington State, this place reminded of a lot of favorites.
