Better late than never. I have been coming here since I was a small child. It’s always been somewhere my family and myself would look forward to spending an evening with fro and family over good food and drinks. We enjoyed our final meal at Macleods this evening and it was just as enjoyable as every other time I stepped foot into this establishment over the past 30+ years. The ribs didn’t disappoint, they never do. You will all be sorely missed! Best of luck in whatever it is you choose to do next! Macleods will always hold a special place in my heart and memory.

Didnt think we needed reservations, but I do say make that reservation ahead of time. We waited 20mins for a table on a Friday night. It was worth the wait. They were short staffed but still managed to have great service and wonderful food. Kimberly our server made it felt like home away from home. We had the Duck with Rasberry sauce, Shrimp Scampi & Linguine, and the Cajun Grilled Halibut.

If you’re looking for a place that exhibits blatant racism, this restaurant is it.
As an Indian who has been in the U.S. for over three years, I’ve never experienced racism until I visited this restaurant. Unfortunately, this was an experience I had to pay for.
Here’s what happened. My partner, a U.S. citizen, and I were celebrating her birthday and decided to dine at this restaurant. I ordered Mac and Cheese, and my partner ordered Meatloaf. Since I’m a vegetarian, she kindly offered her side of fries, making sure to inform the waitress about my dietary preference. The waitress brought fries that were practically burnt. It was clear this wasn’t an accident.
But the most glaring issue was the dinner rolls. We noticed that every table was served dinner rolls as soon as they sat down—except us. When our food arrived, we patiently waited, noticing that even those who sat down after us received their rolls. Feeling marginalized, I asked the waitress about the rolls. Her response, “I’m sorry, I don’t understand,” was infuriating. My partner intervened, repeating the request for dinner rolls, to which the waitress replied, “Oh, do you want one?” Yes, we wanted the same treatment as everyone else.
Eventually, the waitress brought the rolls, avoiding eye contact entirely, making us feel even more unwelcome. To top it off, she handed the check to my partner, ignoring me completely. This was not about chivalry but about the implicit biases that became evident throughout our meal. My partner was horrified and insisted we leave immediately, vowing never to return.
This was undoubtedly my worst experience at a U.S. restaurant. Racism should never be on the menu, and I regret having to pay for this bitter experience. Enclosed are pictures of the food and our bill. Needless to say, we didn’t touch the dinner rolls.

Wow, what a great place. The hours are a bit weird here. They had signs on the front door that really turned me off (something about limited help) but I decided to give it a try anyway and am glad I did. See the photos – nice salad with split pea & ham soup with bread and then meatloaf, green beans and mashed potatoes. I remember asking for the beans to be cooked well as most places serve beans too raw (in my opinion) and they actually cooked them a bit longer for me! Great service and super food. Highly recommend you try this place.
After my meal I did ask about the signs and they said that they get busy on the weekends so if you think they might be busy, call ahead and see what they say.

Great place in the quaint little town of Bucksport. We ate here 2 of the 3 nights we were in town. We would have dined there all 3 nights but they were closed Sunday. All the food we had was excellent as was the presentation. The sweet and sour collard greens are to die for! The service was friendly and top notch. The atmosphere was comfortable and the location was perfect since we were staying across the street at the Fort Knox Park Inn. Due to being short staffed, reservations are required. This restaurant is a must if you’re staying in the area or just passing through.

We just left after having our anniversary dinner here and I honestly cannot think of anything remotely negative to say. The staff that we interacted with were all friendly and informative and quick! Food and drinks came out in a timely fashion, tasted great, and were definitely worth the prices (included in pictures)! Highly recommend!
And to the lady who recommended for me to try the Manhattan, thank you! It was fantastic and I hope you see this so you know I enjoyed it!

Stopped here after reading all the great reviews on our way to Acadia and we were so happy we did! The basil stuffed riccota ravioli special was so delicious we all would have ordered it! The french onion soup was one of the best I have ever eaten. The meat on the ribs was so tender and the meatloaf was delicious, just a tad sweet for our liking. The coconut cream pie was so creamy Service was wonderful as well. Thank you for a memorable meal in Maine.

We were staying in Bucksport and just happened to give this place a try. Service, food and atmosphere was excellent. We ate there a second time during the week we were there. It was just as good if not better.

Very fine place to eat. Enjoy the seventy music, was great. Got to see a couple in their senior years for a first date I believe. My feelings might not work out. But I hope it will. Cherish a very good dinner with the wife. Starting a new adventure, and this meal was a great start. Sorry got a picture of dessert only. Meatloaf was great.
