On vacation in Oxford, I found this place that has the claim “#1 burger in the U.S.A.”, so just like finding the world’s best coffee in New York City, you gotta go in and give it a try!
No groceries here!
I was hoping to try the catfish basket, I guess it wasn’t in season.
I had the bacon cheeseburger and onion rings, my wife had the four cheese burger and fried pickle chips, and my daughter had a bacon cheeseburger and fries.
This place had a very nostalgic feel like an old county diner. The menu is small and the quality is good. If you rather not go to a chain for mystery ingredient food and you’re in the area, give it a try!
I don’t think you would be disappointed with the food. On the other side of it, open hours are limited, so check the day and time you plan to stop by.

Historic spot in Oxford, known for the burger it’s a really good burger get the Philly steak it’s my favorite, I had patty melt today which was a little greasy but still very tasty the hand cut fries are really the star of the show and the staff here is friendly and they get food out very quick!!

Love this place. It almost made my five-star list which is very hard to get on to. The food was well prepared and served. The service was great. The atmosphere was friendly casual. Definitely a place I’ll be going back to it. Might even move up to five stars after a few visits.
I had the smokehouse Burger. It had smoked sausage, barbecue sauce, bacon, burger patty, cheddar cheese.

The burgers are the best outside of homemade. Good sweet tea. The fries are hand cut and smelled awesome. I thought the fries would be crispier but everything was good. Want to go back and try something else. I had the burger and bacon with cheese.

If you like a homemade burger and fries , stop here. Everything tasted like it was made in the kitchen at home. Recommend highly. Located close to the oxford Baptist hospital. Worth the trip even if it’s out of the way. Phillips grocery has been part of the Oxford landscape for many decades.

I loved the chili cheeseburger. It was a nice size burger on a fresh bun. I wasn’t as fond of the fried pickle chips. They had too much batter for my liking.

Best burger that I’ve had in Mississippi. The fries are good, but a little on the soggy side, the Banana Pudding is average. My wife loved her cheese steak and the fried pickles.
Friendliest staff that I’ve had in Oxford. We’ll definitely be back.

Haven’t been here in a while, food and service has really gone down hill. I can’t believe they are charging people 8.00 for a glass of tea. Wow how ridiculous! When question it the young girl punched a button on the cash register and said that what it say kinda snotty.

Avoid going there if there’s a lot of people (e.g. Fridays/Game days), wait time was terrible and the hand cut fries were undercooked. The waiter delayed our order intentionally – and I had to ask several times to get our food.
