Del Lusso is my favorite restaurant! The owner, Walter, is so kind, welcoming & attentive and the food is phenomenal. I started with a glass of Pinot Grigio (Italian wine is SO smooth). Then I tried the flatbread which is made with Italian flour (that leaves you feeling light and satisfied). I ordered the Italian Chop Salad for my main meal. It came with fresh mozzarella and capers (which were a nice, flavorful touch). The flavors of the dressing and salami complimented each other so well!! I finished things off with coconut and espresso gelato and a cup of cappuccino that made me feel like I was sipping in on a gondola in Italy!! Soooo delectable!! The service was great & the ambiance was amazing too. I just love this place. If you haven’t tried it, you must!!! Tell Walter that Kelly G. sent you. 🙂

We’v been there twice now!
Walter, the owner, is a super nice guy, and he and his staff are very attentive, always helpful, and friendly.
The food was delicious and authentically Italian. The atmosphere in the restaurant is really cozy, and on my next trip to the USA, I’ll definitely come back to eat and have a good time.

Greetings from Peter & Flo from good old Germany.

TL;DR
Food was fresh and delicious. Service was fabulous. I will definitely be going back.

So to be honest it was never my intention to try this restaurant. After a long busy day at work my partner and I discussed some various options. I tried making reservations at another restaurant and it was an hour wait. Disappointed, we searched for something close to home that would satisfy our hunger. We had decided on a burger joint just down the road. As I waited for the arrival of my plus one I wandered over to the menu board of a neighboring restaurant. I reviewed the menu offerings and pondered the taste of some of the delicious menu items. While reviewing the menu a friendly man approached and offered me a table. I kind of declined his offer and mentioned my current holding pattern pending the arrival of my partner. Walter, as he introduced himself, let me know about the quality of his ingredients imported from Italy and the fresh wholesomeness of his ingredients.

As I strolled away I picked up the phone to advise of a change of plans. She and I both delighted in the prospect of enjoying some fine Italian food and the excitement of trying something new. As she arrived and strolled through the beautiful park-like entrance of the property I mentioned the beauty of the aesthetics of the restaurant’s physical design, highlighting the awesome bi-fold glass garage door that tied the indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly.

We were promptly seated upon arrival at an “outdoor” table underneath a warm and welcoming outdoor heater. As we reviewed the menu we had trouble deciding on what to order. There were so many things that piqued our interest on the menu. Walter checked in on us to see if we had any questions about the menu and we explained our predicament. After some brief discussion on our top choices we were assisted with making our selections.

Insalata Burrata – Arugula, Burrata, fresh pepper
Spaghetti alla Francisco – Mild, fresh
Pizza Bianca – White pizza

We started with the Insalata Burrata, which was a refreshing burst of flavors. The creamy burrata paired perfectly with the peppery arugula and a dash of fresh cracked pepper, all drizzled with high-quality olive oil that screamed “imported from Italy.” It was light yet indulgent, setting the tone for the meal.
Next came the Spaghetti alla Francisco, a simple but masterful dish. The sauce was mild and vibrant —nothing overpowering, just pure, wholesome Italian comfort. The pasta was cooked al dente, and every bite felt like it was prepared with care using those premium ingredients Walter had mentioned.

The star of the show, though, was the Pizza Bianca from their brick oven. The crust was thin, crispy on the edges, and chewy in the middle. It was minimalist in the best way, letting the quality of the ingredients shine through without any heavy sauces or overload of toppings. We savored every slice

Throughout the meal, the service was impeccable—attentive without being intrusive. Walter stopped by again to check on us, sharing a bit about the restaurant’s Neapolitan-inspired roots, which added a personal touch. The outdoor seating under the heaters made for a cozy atmosphere, even as the evening cooled down, and the seamless indoor-outdoor flow gave the place a vibrant, welcoming vibe.

Overall, Del Lusso exceeded our expectations for what started as a spontaneous detour. The food was authentic, fresh, and full of flavor, the portions generous, and the prices reasonable for the quality. If you’re in Carlsbad craving Italian done right, skip the chains and head here. We’ll be back soon—maybe to try the meatballs or one of their red sauce pizzas next time! 5/5 stars.

This was an amazing experience! The owner greeted us at the door and gave us an run down of the menu, he told us all the food is made fresh and the flour they use is from Italy! My mom and I shared a Margarita Pizza and The Chopped Italian salad and both were extremely good! The pizza was tasteful and cooked well, and the salad had fresh ingredients that tasted amazing! The service was amazing it was fast, and friendly!

We are visiting from Florida and here for a conference and decided to get this place a try and it was amazing! The owner is so awesome and comes around and introduces himself and tells you about the fresh ingredients that are flown in from Italy directly to make their high-quality Neapolitan pizza! We were fortunate enough to be in Italy last summer and this was just like going back! Awesome restaurant with excellent food and a wonderful owner!

Highly recommend!! Genuine Napoli oven, happy hour 2-5 M-Th, pulled pork poutine was fabulous!! Pizza was excellent, very very close to our memories of Naples dough and crust. Nice outdoor seating with fire pits. We’re not from the area, but saw that they were popular with locals, we will come back, especially for the happy hour pizza prices – worth the commute! Outstanding service!!

I first came across Del Lusso when I saw someone mention it online, so I decided to check it out on Google Maps. The menu looked promising, although the reviews were a bit mixed—some positive and some not so much. Still, I decided to give it a try.

We ordered their pizza, and I have to say, it was really good. The flavors were on point, and I was impressed with the quality. The service also stood out—it was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

While it might not be my absolute favorite pizza spot in the area, I’d definitely go back for another round to also try their pasta. Worth trying if you’re in the neighborhood!

Definitely a little slice of Napoli in Carlsbad with a gorgeous pizza oven being the centerpiece of the kitchen!
Everything was just like being in Naples- the sauce, the crust, the toppings, and the buffalo mozzarella cheese. This attention to detail really makes a difference!
The owner and staff are friendly and welcoming. It was obvious that most of the guests were regulars and would continue coming back. I know I will!

Service was good but the regular pizza was strange. It hardly had any sauce (and it was supposed to be a red pizza). Toppings were not skimpy but weren’t very flavorful. The crust was not bad-chewy (not crunchy). The gluten free crust on the second pizza was pretty good but the pizza had the same issue with the sauce. We didn’t try the pasta.

We’ll probably be looking for a different place for pizza.
