And – THEY’RE BACK!!!! I frequented Yen Ching my entire childhood thru mid-adulthood and would even make the occasional trip down to go, so I was crushed when they closed, and a piece of me shattered when they leveled the building. BUT! they are now open in Mequon (close to work) and they deliver! My two absolute favorites Yen Ching Chicken and Cashew Chicken DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT!! The y were as good as I remember!! I can’t wait to try the sizzling rice soup. Thank you for letting the memory match the reality, which it rarely does.

Bonus – prices were very reasonable.

We will DEFINITELY be back!! TEN STARS!

We have been long time patrons of Yen Ching for the last 25 years. First at their Good Hope Rd location and now the Mequon location. The food is fantastic and the service is always spot on. My only small complaint is that there isn’t really indoor seating. In the summer months there is some outdoor seating. It is still the best Chinese food I have had in Ozaukee County. We always order the cashew chicken and order extra sauce on the side. We love this place! Thank you for opening this location.

The food here is AMAZING and reasonably priced as well. You really get your money’s worth, they gave me generous portions and the staff is extremely friendly. I love that I didn’t have to wait a long time after I ordered to receive my food and the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming. I could literally eat here everyday. If you’re in Mequon near Mequon Rd and Port Washington and you’re looking for a good place to eat, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I LOVE this place, it’s my new favorite restaurant. ❤️❤️❤️ ‍ ‍

First time getting food from Yen Ching Express. My daughter got Orange Chicken and I got Mongolian Chicken and an egg roll.

Generous portion and really good flavor. I got extra chicken in mine and that was with the upcharge.

We will definitely be back, as I’m a pretty picky eater when it comes to Chinese cuisine.

Great take-out Chinese food with lots of gluten free options! My go-to faves are combo fried rice and Mongolian beef but this time I got king pao chicken and chicken fried rice. My non-GF husband also likes their General Tso’s chicken and sweet and sour chicken. We frequently order 3 entrees for the 2 of us (bc of wanting the GF fried rice) which makes for tons of leftovers – dinner portions are quite generous; even without the extra, there would be plenty left for lunch the next day.

This could honestly be the worst Chinese food that I’ve ever had in my entire life. And yes we’re talking about American Chinese food. I got the general general tso’s chicken. It had no flavor at all. It was soupy in other words really thin no sense of Ginger flavor or honestly any flavor other than oyster sauce. For some reason they put carrots onions and green pepper in it and I have no idea why. General Tso’s chicken although not being traditional actual Chinese is a recipe by a famous Chinese chef and I encourage you to look it up on your favorite search engine. It’s deep fried chicken with a rich barbecue-ish sauce and broccoli. I’ve never seen a version with carrots and the thing with putting carrots in it is you need to saute those before you put everything else in the wok because as you know it takes only a few seconds to stir everything up in the walk and combine the ingredients. I asked for my extra spicy so what they did was added dried red peppers cut into large pieces. Okay here’s the problem with that… The heat comes from the seeds and pith inside the pepper. when you dry them out and then cut them up all the seeds and the hot stuff ends up on your counter that you probably just throw on the floor for the rats to eat. Even if there’s any spice left in the pepper or if we’re even lucky some flavor the problem is it’s dehydrated and again you would need to reconstitute that prior to throwing it in the wok for 30 seconds. I could make a better general Tso’s chicken in my college dorm room when I was 18 years old. This place is absolut pathetic overpriced garbage. Again the worst American Chinese food that I’ve ever had in my life. And don’t even get me started on actual Chinese food because this place wouldn’t even be in the running… Oh crap and before I go I got to mention the egg roll. I’ve never seen a smaller more shriveled wet egg roll in my life. There were no fillings. It was an absolute embarrassment to be honest. And they give you some type of sauce it’s red I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be plum sauce but it certainly is not and does not taste like plum sauce. Again it’s some BS that they pour out of a gallon container into little cups which is loaded with chemicals and additives and preservatives. real plum sauce is not hard to make. At the end of the day no filling, no flavors in either the entree or the egg roll and for over $20 that is absolutely insane. 0 out of 100 and will never ever ever go here again.

I hadn’t had Yen Ching in years. I used to eat at their Good Hope Road location so many times back in the ’80s and ’90s, and it was always a favorite. Even though the Mequon location is a bit of a drive from the east side, my family requested it for our New Year’s Eve meal—and I’m so glad they did.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was just as I remembered. The flavors brought me right back. My daughter’s boyfriend had never had Yen Ching before, and he was blown away—he said he’s never had better.

I only wish they’d open a location on the east side again!

Ordered for pickup at 5. Showed up at 4:50 and food was sitting in the counter. I showed up early for fear my food would be done early and getting cold. Not just you, a lot of restaurants do it. Would prefer to wait a few minutes then have cold good. Food was still good.

Was a customer of Yen Ching, on Good Hope, years ago and was sad to see it go. Finally tried YC Express and ordered some of my past favorites – Ming’s Beef, Lo Mein, and Hot & Sour Soup. Outstanding! Not only did they bring back memories, the flavors tripped my taste buds. Will definitely be a return customer.
