Reviews
I ordered takeout and took home onion pakora and found a silicone packet inside the dough instead one of the pakoras mixed with onion. The chef was so negligent he was not careful and fried something that is used for keeping the food fresh. It’s very poisonous and thankfully my kids did not consume it. My son also found 2 chicken pieces in the paneer Biriyani we ordered. We are pure vegetarians. The owner nor the chef came out of the kitchen to talk and take responsibility. It was the person in the front who was empathetic but refused the refund the whole amount. He offered to give food instead of money. I would never eat there again. You can see the blue silicon packet in the photo.
**Food Quality: *⭐⭐⭐⭐*
The quality of both the savory and sweet offerings is commendable. The curries are flavorful and authentic, while the cakes and pastries are fresh and well-crafted.
**Menu Variety: *⭐⭐⭐*
The expanded menu is a standout feature. From traditional Indian curries to contemporary cakes and pastries, there’s something for every palate. The fusion items, like curry puffs are particularly interesting. Daily special items seems to be more interesting.
**Taste: *⭐⭐⭐⭐*
Flavors are bold and satisfying. Some dishes could use fine-tuning, but overall, the taste is very good. Add some extra spice to the Biryani’s to feel more authentic.
**Freshness: *⭐⭐⭐⭐*
Everything tastes freshly made. The breads and pastries have that just-baked quality, and the curries taste like they’re made in small batches.
**Atmosphere: *⭐⭐⭐*
The space is clean and functional, but could benefit from more ambiance. It’s suitable for quick meals or takeout, small space for dining, capable for leisure dining.
**Service: *⭐⭐⭐⭐*
Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Service is generally quick, which is great for those on the go.
**Value:* ⭐⭐⭐⭐*
Prices are reasonable given the quality and portion sizes.
**Overall: *⭐⭐⭐⭐*
Hot Breads – Now Currys & Cakes successfully bridges the gap between a traditional Indian eatery and a modern bakery. It’s a great spot for those craving authentic Indian flavors alongside sweet treats.
Recommended items: Dum Biryani’s, Appetizers, non veg curries.
Curries and Cakes (Monroe Township) is one of the worst take out experiences I’ve ever had. After eating their vegetable pakoras, I suffered severe food poisoning. I experienced intense stomach pain, nonstop diarrhea, and vomiting, which clearly indicates contaminated or improperly handled food.
This was not a coincidence and not a minor issue—it was dangerous. Serving food that makes customers violently sick shows a complete lack of hygiene, quality control, and responsibility. I had to spend the entire day recovering from something that should have been completely avoidable.
This restaurant should be ashamed of serving food in this condition. I strongly urge people to stay away unless you want to risk your health. I will never return, and I sincerely hope the health department inspects this place before more customers get sick.
Absolutely unacceptable
They had a nice lunch Buffett set out that had all our favorites!
Very nice woman (owner?) who welcomed us and attended our needs. Slight discount for cash payment
I would definitely recommend and come anytime I’m in the area!
Butterscotch pastry had soft butterscotch and cashews! Who puts cashew in pastries?
Paneer samosa was hollow from inside with only 50% filling
Vegetable samsoa which is potato samosa was stale. We didn’t eat those.
Interior is not good at all.
