It’s no secret that Maryland is home to hundreds of creatives who design, craft, roast, stitch, bake, weld, brew and build amazing products–and now there is a retail initiative dedicated to helping them grow. This modern-day incubator is a platform for creativity–enabling ideas, products, and people to converge and drive traffic to neighborhoods while creating low entry-to-market opportunities for Maryland-based makers and small retailers.

If you want a low-commitment way to check the place out, go in with your own paper and order a drink. They have markers at the tables, so you can just doodle while you drink your latte.
They also sell the work of local artisans; I’ll just throw out a caution that the work is by and large quite pricey. Not a lot of impulse-buy sort of stuff (unless you count really cheap things like stickers).
Went there on opening day and aside from some small hiccups they seemed to have everything on lock and each employee I spoke with was super friendly and engaging. Definitely looking forward to seeing this place settle into the area!
The painting ️ is 3 hours so you get to do as many as you want within that gime frame. Did I mention it’s free, if you register via Eventbrite?! So, it is a brilliant way for you to get creative, check out the space, and (can) encourage shopping if you spend extended time there (which I think is an incentive of the shop.)
I recommend any visitors to UMD, Marylanders, college students, new to the city, crafters, creatives, or travelers arrive to the shop and spend some time and money there.
I even received a complimentary chocolate cookie and lavender l lemonade ! happened to write it on my art picture because I wanted to remember the picture and the event at the shop. Now I’ll always have good memories ✨ .
Big thanks to the staff for their care and being inviting. Keep the events coming!
From jewelry, to gift cards, journals, plants, stickers…there are dozens of places for your eye to turn. I also loved the eclectic mix of artists available as well.
To add the cherry on top, the baristas were so freaking friendly. OUTSTANDING services. Extremely knowledgeable and PRESENT. No cell phone focused hum-drum. They were college students (it seemed) who were delightful, warm, and great energy. I will be back again based on them alone.
There weren’t a ton of places to sit, but I found that the govt city building that it’s connected to has some chairs in their lobby that are perfect. Grab a seat there and read your book if you need to!
Also, coffee, pastries, wine and beer? Who knew! Wonderful place to linger especially with light pouring in from the floor to ceiling windows. A gem in the neighborhood.
The staff was warm and welcoming, greeting us as soon as we walked in. A workshop was in progress when we arrived, occupying the main table space, but the staff kindly accommodated us at the high tops, ensuring we still had a great experience.
I spotted several items that caught my eye and will definitely be returning to purchase unique finds for myself and thoughtful gifts for others.
I highly recommend checking it out and supporting small, local businesses. You won’t be disappointed!
