3.5/5 – Solid, no-frills Indian spot worth a try

Hopped in for a dine-in lunch and feeling it was a decent experience overall. The menu is massive, which is always a good sign, and the portions are impressively generous for the price—definitely good value there.

We ordered:
• Mutton keema biryani: Nothing standout, but perfectly decent and filling.
• Rawa dosa: A nice change from the usual, enjoyable twist.
• Pepper chicken: Tasted a lot like chicken 65, but really tasty and well-executed.
• Goat curry: Just okay, nothing memorable.
• Kerala parotta: Disappointing—came out small and noticeably dry.

Spice warning: Ask for it carefully! I went with “medium” and it was way too hot for my tolerance.

The dining setup is self-service—you order at the counter, then grab your food in boxes when it’s ready. The place itself looks nice with pleasant interiors, clean restrooms, and decent seating (though parking is limited even inside the complex).

Not mind-blowing, but a nice one-time dine-in experience if you’re in the area and craving Indian food without breaking the bank. I’d say give it a shot!

It’s my first time here and I ordered Pav bhaji and it taste like vegetable soup . The point is here if you don’t know how to make please don’t make people fool, very unprofessional and my friends ordered goat curry and we got chicken curry. It’s about food quality and professionalism where you guys have failed with full stars. The only thing we liked is falooda to be honest.

The indian wok is delicious! fresh tasting vegetables, a wonderful blend of taste and spice, and they give you a good amount for your money.

The atmosphere wasn’t meant for me, since I dont have any indian heritage or background, but it was peaceful and the music was good.
While I may not appreciate it fully, I left feeling satisfied.

A great spot for both dining in and takeout! The name ‘Cross Roads’ reflects its vision of bringing people together from all corners. The menu offers a wide variety—from North Indian and South Indian style tiffins and street food. You place your order at the counter, and the freshly prepared food is brought to your table.

The staff is friendly and helpful, always ready to suggest available dishes. The ambiance is warm and thoughtfully decorated. Don’t miss the Hyderabad-style Irani chai—it’s more than just a drink; it’s an emotion for Hyderabadi hearts! Masala chai is also a good choice.

Finally got to visit the most awaited restaurant in phoenix – chandler : The Chowrasta.

Like the name and hype created of it’s opening in Chandler, food and the service failed to stand tall to the hype.

Ordered – 3 irani chai, chowrasta fried chicken, jalapeno chicken, Mix tandoori platter, Chicken dum biryani, goat dum biryani, vijayawada boneless biryani, onion samosa

Irani chai was good

Onion samosa- full of oil and the filling inside is more of other veggies mix instead of onions and spice levels are damn high. We never new that samosa can be this spicy

Chowrasta fried chicken – Nothing but chicken pakoda deep fried untill it become concrete chips. Taste wise damn salty and the meat doesn’t have any juiciness. If they really want to keep it on the menu should change the recipe or it will be a disaster to the brand and menu.

jalapeño chciken : flavor full but meat is missing the tender ness and portion wise very little to the pricing we are paying.

Mixed Tandoori platter: I wouldn’t even recommend it anyone. Just the plain meet cooked in Tandoor clay oven, no flavors, no proper seasoning not worth for the money at all. On top cooking time is 30 mins that too at very slow hours like 4.00 Pm

Finally the biryani’s are above average, quantity is really good, meat portions is less and no artificial colours added.

Goat dum biryani literally got 3 small pieces of meat and vijayawada biryani got 8 to 10 pieces of meat

None of the dishes are up to the standard and specially the meat is missing tender ness because of over cooking or may over prep in the line.

I absolutely love the food and the environment at Desi Chowrastha. The atmosphere truly makes me feel like I’m eating homemade food back in India very warm and comforting. The service and overall vibe are really nice.

However, I was disappointed with the “Indian Street Style Fried Rice.” It had a strong artificial color, very little salt, and tasted mostly like plain chili powder. It didn’t resemble authentic Indian street-style fried rice at all, which is usually well-balanced with proper seasoning, spices, and flavor.

I’m honestly confused about why it’s called Indian street style fried rice when the taste is completely different. My sincere request is either to revise the recipe to match the authentic street-style flavor or consider renaming the dish so customers don’t feel misled.

I’m sharing this feedback because I genuinely like this place and hope it continues to improve.

Came here for breakfast and the service was amazing. The ambience was pleasant and there was barely any wait time. We chose the gongura and ghee karam dosa and couldn’t recommend anything more!

My first time ordering food from them. I have had a lot of Indian and Pakistani food in the past and this one was not the best and absolutely overpriced for the quality and quantity of the food. Their Goat Beryani consisted of alot of spicy rice with alot of beef bones. Almost no meat. They panir curry was very ok and the Dosa bread was good but was over priced. I had the onion samosas and they were good. The sauces that came with the food were OK and almost unnecessary. Overall I dont think I would order anything other the samosas from them again. Their technology to send me the link to pay my bill before pick up was very convenient and the food was ready on time.

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had at Desi Chowrasta (visited 8/31).
Waited 20+ mins in line only to find most items unavailable by 7:30 pm. Place was overcrowded, tables were a struggle to grab, and the AC was useless — hot and sweaty throughout.

Food was a disaster:
• Puffs way too spicy for kids.
• Kebabs bland, poorly marinated.
• Veg Hakka noodles (ordered mild for kids) came overloaded with pepper and no salt. When I complained, they didn’t remake it — just threw some salt into the same noodles and gave it back. Completely unhygienic and unacceptable!
• VJA chicken biryani had zero flavor, just plain rice with chili-coated chicken.
• Only the poori was okay, but even the chole was disappointing.

Overall: mismanaged, unhygienic, and terrible food. Definitely not worth visiting.

This place offers a wide variety of delicious food options. We tried their Irani chai, which was quite good. Their dosa is particularly tasty, especially the ginger chutney that comes with it. We also tried the bhel, chicken dum biryani, and chicken 65 biryani. All of these dishes are served in large quantities and taste fantastic.
