Solid wedge and fried oysters. Mushroom risotto was on point. Shrimp and scallops Linguine was great but somehow the acid from the lemon was on the bottom of the plate and not really incorporated into the dish. The short ribs were unfortunately dry. Solid service and wonderful staff.

Solid place, we enjoyed the food quite a bit overall, and great service as well.

Cocktail could have been a bit better balanced and the pricing of the entrees was a bit steep for the quality. I would say the food is comparable to Clyde’s or Glenwood’s (fka Stanford Grill) in terms of MoCo spots.

We enjoyed the following:

Crispy Empanadas & Chipotle Dipping Sauce – delicious seasoned ground beef paired perfectly with the creamy aioli.

Tuna & Avocado Tartar, Crispy Wontons & Seaweed Salad – it was fine but have had better versions of this dish, just wasn’t as fresh tasting as hoped

Sautéed Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes – With bacon mashed potatoes, roasted corn hash, and sweet corn sauce. My friend enjoyed his crab cakes, they’re always good in MD, the crab quality does most of the work here.

Black & White Sesame Crusted Seared Tuna –
With roasted red pepper, snow pea, bean sprout, red onion, couscous, and sweet chili sauce – this was also good but not epic.

Trio of Profiteroles -Cream puffs with vanilla ice cream, caramel & chocolate sauces. Simple but excellent.

I rarely write negative reviews about food, but I felt I had to share my experience at this place. The servers were wonderful and very attentive, but unfortunately the food was some of the worst I’ve had in all my travels. My husband ordered the lobster soup, which tasted exactly like canned tomato soup, no sign of lobster… I had the lobster roll, which was unpleasant at best, served with overly oily fries. Sadly, I can’t recommend this restaurant. I do hope the food improves, because the staff truly deserves better.

Persimmon is a Bethesda staple for good reason! Some of the best food in town which is saying a lot. Food and drinks are exceptional and fairly priced, service is impeccable and easy parking. Everything we’ve tried has been worth recommending so just order what looks good to you. Some of our personal faves are the seared tuna (zesty for spicy lovers and spicy for spice wimps,) the salmon with pesto risotto and the bouillabaisse. The bouillabaisse comes with at least 12oz of seafood so it’s probably the best value on the menu. The seared tuna is one of my favorite dishes ever even outside of Bethesda. QUICK TIPS: 1.) Make reservations, this is a cozy and small restaurant which is very popular with locals – don’t chance it especially for dinner. 2.) Parking is easy and plentiful, navigate to the public parking lot behind the restaurant. And its free on Sundays FYI.

Great experience! Did not expect such delicious food despite having read quite a lot of the reviews. The scallops I had for main just melted in my mouth; they were that tasty. For dessert I had a sort of apple crumble; again on point. The host was very friendly, chatty if you wanted him to be and helpful. The other staff members kept filling up our water glasses and were very accommodating.

Great small local spot, wish we had a place like this close to home. Main dish – Lamb Chops, was great. Bread was very nice, dense lighted crusted, loved it. Molten cake for desert was ok, lite on the sweet side, but over cooked, did not have chocolate molting out, but it’s popular, so maybe unlucky that night. I’m big on dessert, so not overly satisfied when not right, especially if home made. The service was good and friendly, flexible with side options, but had to waive waiter down couple times. But overall, I would for sure visit again, really enjoyed it, and other items on menu I would like to try.

This dinner was unforgettable in every way!! The owner himself was lovely, intimate, warm, hysterical, and completely involved… you know he loves his business when he wears every hat. He was pouring our wine, grabbing our drinks from the bartender, reading off the specials to us and taking our orders. He checked on us all the time. THE FOOD WAS SCRUMPTIOUS. Had the butternut squash soup. Best butternut squash soup I’ve ever had. Had the scallops. Best scallops I’ve ever had. The rest of the staff was so attentive and helpful. Totally recommend, we will be back!!!

This was a nice find. It’s a small restaurant but the service was great and so was the food. Everyone in our party ordered something different and everyone enjoyed their food. Our servers were attentive but not overbearing. It was a nice experience.
