We are new to the Speak Easy bars, Fat Franks was our first experience. The service was excellent, the food really good, but the smash burger was small and the bun was soggy. Definitely stick with the hotdogs. The drinks were tasty, but miniature in size, especially for the price. If you’re ordering a martini you definitely want a martini glass. Many of the 16-18 dollar cocktails were ittyy bitty. One guy in a purple shirt was very abrupt when asked a question. Food was great, not the burger, service was excellent, but the cocktails were very tiny. Like a little child’s tea party. My husband said that was the first time drinking whiskey he ever wanted to hold his pinky out.

The drinks were amazing! I’m not a modern craft cocktail connoisseur, so I can’t say how they rate on a national level, but I can say they are very tasty! Hot dogs were delicious! We had the Frito pie dog, pretzel, and bahn mi. All delicious! The blue cheese fries were also delicious! The atmosphere was nice. The loud noise from the people walking in the restaurant above was distracting, but not a deal breaker though! And maybe it adds to the speak easy theme.

This is a welcome addition to the Nob Hill hood. Tight drink menu with the option for hot dogs or small bites. Drinks are tasty and inventive. I had a rigid old man in my group and the bartender was able to provide a jack and coke.
The service was attentive and delightful. The ambiance is chic. Music was on point. We’ll def be back for drinks. I do hope the food menu can expand a bit from mostly hot dogs (despite them being very fun creations).

Super cute speakeasy-style bar with knowledgeable, friendly bartenders and servers! Excellent cocktails including their own inventions (they make their own Chartreuse!) and a menu with interesting takes on a classic hot dog. We got the mac n cheese fries with green chile which was great. Hannah built us delicious custom drinks based on our preferences. It was so nice we went twice in a weekend. You can schedule a reservation but if they’re not crowded you just have to knock real loud. Entrance is in the alley behind Tia B’s.

Absolutely loved this new local bar! The low lighting creates a lovely, calm atmosphere that’s perfect for unwinding. The drinks are top-notch, and the music perfectly complements the vibe. Plus, the bartenders are super friendly and attentive. The Tea Time was my favorite, it was sweet, light, you can for sure taste the lemon and honey and it was an enjoyable drink. This was our first time here and we really really wanted to like this place. Let me start with the positives. The food was great. Lots of different delicious hot dogs to choose from. The table they had us sit at was barely big enough for drinks much less food too. So that became awkward really quickly. The drinks on the menu were also tasty. Now for the atmosphere. The music was very loud for that type of environment. We have been to many speakeasys and never had an experience where we have to shout at the person next to me to have a conversation. Even the server was shouting to speak to people, which took away from the service aspect. Why not turn the music down a bit? Everyone was yelling at everyone. Which quickly made the atmosphere less intimate and more that of a exciting sports event. I can get that vibe at any bar, which was not what I was looking for with a speakeasy.

Surprised my wife trying out a new place. After traveling to Bangkok, we fell in love with dark alley bars/restaurants. A friend of mine posted a snap chat video of herself and friends walking down a dark alley to a modern-rustic door in a dark alley in our hometown of Albuquerque. It was a Speakeasy! I immediately Googled it.
We came on a Saturday night. It’s pretty easy to find on Google maps. It took about 10 minutes to find parking. After we found parking, we walked about 5 minutes to the backdoor entrance (Note: it’s connected to a restaurant called Urban dog. The entrance for Urban Dog is located off Central Avenue. The Speakeasy entrance for Fat Franks is located in the alley behind it.) We walked up to the modern-rustic door. It’s pretty easy to find since there is a Fat Franks logo projected on the floor in front of the door. Since we didn’t have a reservation, we didn’t know if we should knock. Before I could call their phone number, a very nice lady opened the door. She gladly seated us without a reservation. We sat at the bar. The atmosphere was very dark (very Speakeasy-ish) but very well lit at the same time. Very well decorated with haloween accents on the walls, Our bartender Jackson was incredibly friendly. Walked us through the drink menu. My wife ordered the Beetlejuice flight, and I ordered the LA LLARONA. It was delicious. For food, I ordered the crafty dog with green Chile, and my wife ordered the beyond LT&A (vegan dog). Both of these items are highly recommended! The crafty dog was a perfect balance of cheese and their delicious Frank. It was a perfect portion size.
After we ate, we had a few more drinks at the bar and enjoyed the night longer than we expected. We highly enjoyed the atmosphere and our bartender Jackson. We will be back for sure!

Stumbled across this place and so happy to have done so. Super cool vibe on the inside. Great drinks, great food, great service. Pictured is the Caprese-Tini. A take on the caprese salad, unique but it worked. Will be back!

I’ll start with the good first, the food was delicious as well as the food and service. I had put in a reservation to celebrate my husband’s job offer and I had to knock on the door about 10 times extremely hard. Finally, with no luck I called the front desk and they let us in. When let in it seemed like they were surprised they had a reservation even though I put it in a week and a half before. We were then offered a very small table or the bar. I would have liked a table but it would have been oddly close to the four people seated next to the table. And this felt again like they had no idea we were showing up. I think the reservation should have bar or table preference. Overall, the experience was enjoyable but kinks need to be smoothed out for them to flourish as an upscale speakeasy.
