Got recommendations from a friend that we had to come try this spot on a short break to New York from London. From the moment we entered the restaurant, we knew that this was something special. The friendly and relaxed atmosphere put us at ease. We ordered a variety of food and all I can say is: WOW!!!! From the jerk chicken plantain pizza to the turkey or snapper Tiboush platter to the exquisite djon djon rice, it was all amazing, well seasoned amd balanced food. Don’t even get me started on the smoked herring!!!!!! That right there was just too much! It was so good, I can’t even articulate how good it was. To top it off, we had a passion fruit lemonade that was a perfect accompaniment to a meal. When I come back to NYC again, this is defo my spot! Fantastic place.

This is hands down one of my favorite spots to eat. The Bunnan sandwiches are packed with flavor and they offer a great variety of options. I love that the menu goes beyond the usual, where else can you find plantain pizza. The plantain pizza especially is so unique and delicious. If you’re looking to experience authentic Haitian flavors, this is definitely the place to go. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better.

This place is a hit! I absolutely love the green plantain griot (pork) sandwich. The meat was tender and flavorful. I also had the passion fruit juice which was a nice pairing. The sandwich had caramelized onion and shredded red cabbage. There was a small container of sauce on the side – could have been a vinaigrette (not sure). Whatever it was, it all went together really well together.

BUNNANBK! The BK is for Brooklyn… when I say I’ve seen this on TikTok and specifically came to NY to try this I’m not kidding. Nothing is better than sweet plantain with juicy/tender meat. I had to give the sandwiches and the sampler a go. I tried one sandwich with the goat tassot, the jerk chicken and for the sampler one mushroom, one red snapper and two goats. Highly highly recommend the goat, it was extremely flavorful, juicy and tender. Hands down the best out of the others. Paired with the sandwiches was the passion fruit lemonade, absolutely refreshing. This quick service is located in a small town hall with a ton of different shops, food places and vendors. You can shop around for other island favorites whether it’s food or merchandise while you wait on your food to be completed.

The food was great at BunNan and the service was amazing with Race and Jimmy, they were so accommodating and brought out a candle and a great desert that was bread pudding with cremas drizzled over it!!!!! The food was so good, the plantain sliders, the Tassot rice bowl, the meat was moist, not dry and it was tender. Their secret sauce is definitely a hit and the carmelized onions were amazing. I didn’t go to their brick and mortar location but I would assume the quality is the same. On a warm Sunday, I finally had the chance to get the Griot and Plantain sandwich from the “BunNan” stand at Smorgasbord. It took less than 5 minutes, the staff was so friendly and after weeks of eyeing their stand, I am so happy I tried their food. They give you an option of sweet or green-plantain and I chose green. The griot was flavorful, and not too salty. I asked for extra pikliz (spicy, vinegar, and onion/carrot relish) and thanks to my mother, I am used to spicier. The sandwich was large and filling. I will definitely try it again and I rarely repeat meals at Smorgasbord. I recommend they have spicier pikliz for customers who want something more intense

Great food, pictures doesn’t do it justice. They offer a plantain everything menu, from nachos, to sandwiches all of which are good options. Really great portion sizes, and great flavors. They periodically have specials like goat and conchs, always worth a visit. The recent addition of plantain pizza is always great as a featured item.
