This restaurant serves Japanese fusion dishes. Food was generally not bad, on par with expectations for a Michelin star restaurant.

However, I felt that the coherence of the dishes in the menu wasn’t very obvious to me. It went from lamb to tuna to sushi to beef.

Worst of all was the mochi pastel de nata dessert. It was disappointing for it to be the last dish of the night. The presentation was underwhelming. The texture and taste weren’t good at all. There was too much powder sugar. While I appreciated the idea of blending mochi and pastel de nata, the two desserts shouldn’t blend together.

Great Japanese food!! We both ordered tasting menu , one with wagyu sukiyaki one without. Every dish tastes great and quality. It worth to have a Michelin star.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is stunning and elegant, with pleasant lighting for comfort and to show off the dishes on the table. We went with the main experience and ordered some additional dishes a la carte. The tuna with caviar and tomato jelly was spectacular, as well as the scallops and “salmon cigar” that were part of the bento box in the first moment. The cocktails we ordered (including the mocktails) were also delicious. We ordered some additional rolls and tempura following the main experience, which were also very good. We did find several of the moments to be somewhat lackluster, including the quail egg on top of sushi rice served with truffle on top (only a rich flavor, not quite balanced and would have perhaps been better served over a small bowl of rice rather than in nigiri form). Some of the fish was also overwhelmed by the sauces paired with it, not allowing the taste of the fish to shine through. One of the guests in my party received their sushi with one of the pieces upside down nearly falling off the ceramic tray.

The staff was friendly and very informative about the dishes and with excellent recommendations for the sake that we had with our meal. However, they were rather inattentive given that the restaurant wasn’t at full capacity, but could have potentially been a staffing issue. We had to flag down staff from time to time, which is not a typical experience for a Michelin establishment. At one point we went to refill our own sake glasses as we hadn’t been attended to for about 15 minutes, and the staff member looked frustrated with us as they rushed over to take it from our hands and refill our cups. When we ordered our a la carte, the staff recommended parsing out the sushi before the tempura, but it was already quite late so we thanked him for the recommendation and asked them to bring everything out together. It could have been because the beautiful ceramics and dishwater are sizeable for how they present the pieces, but it felt like our request was dismissed. We had also ordered additional rice that was never brought when we ordered a la carte, but we were not charged for it on the final bill so we went along with it.

While the meal had some star standouts, we left perplexed as how this restaurant has a Michelin Star. It could perhaps be a cultural difference in how fine dining operates, but what we paid did not align with our expectations for a Michelin taste and experience. It would be interesting to try their other a la carte dishes and entrees which looked very good, but I would not order the experience again.

As an Asian who truly enjoys omakase and fine dining, I feel the need to set the record straight for this restaurant. Personally, I found it absolutely delicious and well deserving of its Michelin star. While some diners may find the flavors unfamiliar, I appreciated how the dishes evolved from traditional roots into creative expressions. The seasoning may lean on the stronger side, but overall, everything was well-balanced and harmonious. Though we had seen some of the recent reviews and were a bit worried at first. Our worries turned out to be unnecessary.

There is still room for improvement, for example, the selection of fish could be more diverse (such as otoro, sanma, mackerel, uni, etc.). The interval between courses was a bit long, and it would have been nice to have some small bites or side dishes in between. In addition, the division of tasks among the servers felt somewhat unclear.

My wife and I tried the 49-euro lunch menu and were generally disappointed and found the value for money to be poor.
With such quality of food and service, I cannot accept its Michelin star and will never recommend it.

The (almost only) good thing was the starter “Bento Box”, which was quite delicate and delicious, and well explained.

But otherwise, it was lackluster to lame.
The starters were rushed before we even finished our appetizers. For main course, we chose the Main course “Sushi to Sashimi” which is okay, but the tuna Ōtoro wasn’t very fresh.
The 10-20% tip suggested on the bill, plus the waiter’s extra reminder, was surprising and uncomfortable, especially considering there was no pleasant service except for the lady who explained the dishes.

An experience that exceeded all expectations

Dining at Kabuki in Lisbon was truly beyond anything I anticipated. The restaurant masterfully combines elegance, attention to detail, and outstanding culinary quality. The service was impeccable: warm, kind, and always attentive without ever being intrusive.

I chose the exclusive €49 menu, which was perfect for a first visit — each dish was incredibly fresh, high-quality, and beautifully presented. Without a doubt, I’ll return to try the full experience.

A special thank you to Gabriel for the excellent wine recommendation, perfectly paired with each course, and to Monica, who guided me through the evening with professionalism and warmth.

I’ll end with a sweet note: the mochi pastel de nata was an absolute revelation — a brilliant fusion of Japanese and Portuguese tradition.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a truly special dining experience in Lisbon.

I had a fantastic meal here – the vegan tasting menu. Each of the six courses, including a bento box, tempura and niguri, was memorable and beautifully presented. Service was outstanding. The sake menu was mercifully short and very well selected. Not cheap, but good value for what is essentially an evening of artisan food. I’d gladly come back.
