Reviews
This was my first time having dumplings properly and I went all in. We got the chicken xia long bao, shiitake and chicken dumplings, chicken dumplings, shrimp egg and chive dumplings, garlic and chive noodles, and green beans.
The chicken xia long bao was amazing. Super flavorful. Not too sweet, not too spicy. Just right in the middle.
The shrimp egg and chive dumplings and the regular chicken dumplings were both very tasty. Definitely solid picks.
The shiitake and chicken dumplings were not the ones to get.
The garlic and chive noodles were great. Oily and tasty exactly how I’d want them. The green beans were surprisingly good too. Oily, garlicky, and packed with flavor.
Service was very attentive. Our server clarified our questions and helped us decide what to order, which made the whole experience better.
The drinks were incredible! Especially the lychee martini (so good!). Sarah was so kind, attentive, and made the whole experience feel special. Definitely coming back!
A very balanced menu caters to all basic meal types and serving sizes. The dumplings in particular are considerably large.
Service is prompt and no frills.
The place is cozy, modern, and clean
Ideal for small groups
This place has good reviews and we were in the mood for some dumpling.
We were not disappointed! The service was great, the menu easy to read and make choices.
You could order 4 or 8 dumplings as well as a choice of steamed or pan fried. The bao came out steaming hot in a basket.
Excellent food!
We will be back next time we are in the Bay Area.
The food was excellent. Some reviewers list some food as lacking flavor, which is crazy. Nothing was over spiced. Maybe that’s what those other reviewers are looking for.
We ordered veggie dumplings and pan fried juicy beef bao, but the chicken soup dumplings were definitely the best, though everything was great The cucumber garlic salad was perfect.
The space is tight but it’s SF, and they do a great job making it feel as roomy as possible.
The restaurant is just off the #1 Muni bus and easy to access. I highly recommend Dumpling Story. I took my teenaged daughter and she was super pleased as well
