Great choice for ribs!! Seriously wow.

Come support this locally owned shop. This couple is put’n it down. The whole family pitches in.

This is more of a take out than dine in atmosphere.

Ribs – 10/10
Amazing flavor and cooked perfectly. Kissing my fingers into the air like a French chef. Boom!

Brisket- 7/10
Meat was tender with a smoky flavor. There was just something about it that threw me off. I didn’t like the cubed cut style.

Collards – 9/10
Perfectly cooked FRESH collards. A little under seasoned, but your mouth can only handle so many dynamics. So, it is pallet cleansing to include these on your plate.

Mac n Cheese – 8/10
Fab southern flare with this dish. Creamy and a perfect side.

Baked Beans – 7/10
Another southern fav.

BBQ Sauce – 10/10
If they sold it in bottles I would have taken a dozen. THE best BBQ sause I’ve had in a long long time. Sweet and tangy.

If you happen to be driving on I-4 near Orlando, and are not sure what to eat, take exit 34 to Smokey Jay’s.
The menu may seem limited, but it has all you need. Any meat can be made into a sandwhich, or solo, and the sides are the comfort food type.

We ordered the Brisket and Pulled Pork Sammies, the Loaded Fries (w/ pork and sausage), and then I really just wanted the Mac n Cheese, but asked to add some brisket on top. They don’t typically do that, but he made it work. It was all delicious, and came out quick. The only small delay was the fries because they were cooked to order.
Drink options are only bottles of soda and water, and small juices, but covers the basics.
There are a couple tables to eat inside, but everything can be packed to go. Food can be served on the tray or in containers.
Overall, I’m glad we stopped in, and I know we will go back if our route takes us near Exit 34.

Ok, so I ordered a Brisket sandwich meal with 2 sides and pound cake for dessert. The brisket was absolutely delicious. The beans were delicious (nice hint of sweetness), Mac and cheese off the chain. Then the pound cake was so delightful. How could this be?! Every item was SO TASTY! And also the man the runs the store was a really nice guy :))

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5 – A Hidden Gem for BBQ Lovers!

If you’re looking for mouthwatering BBQ served with a side of genuine hospitality, this family-owned spot is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you walk in, you’re treated like one of their own. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with the kind of charm that only a family-run place can offer.
The food? Incredible. The ribs fall off the bone, the brisket is smoky and tender, and the pulled pork is packed with flavor. You can tell they put real love into their recipes – everything tastes homemade and perfectly seasoned. Their BBQ sauces are top-notch too, especially the house special – tangy with just the right amount of heat.
Sides like mac and cheese, baked beans, and cornbread only add to the comfort food vibe. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and you leave full and happy every time.
Whether you’re a BBQ connoisseur or just someone who appreciates good food made with care, this place hits the spot. It’s not just a meal – it’s a reminder of what makes local dining so special.

Highly recommended!

Yesterday, after failing at getting some bbq at a nearby joint, I decided to try Smokey Jay’s BBQ. I am so glad it happened that way. Jacob, the owner and pit master, was at once friendly, professional and efficient. Even as he helped another customer, he immediately greeted me and offered help choosing. I opted for pulled pork, which turned out to be a great choice. The meat was tasty and tender, but not near-mush as in some lesser bbq places. The bbq sauce on it was well balanced between tangy and sweet, which contributed to make my lunch a delicious ++ beyond expectation one. Great job Jacob!

I only have positive things to say about smokey Jays! Let’s start with the food delicious!!! His carolina sauce is the best I’ve had! The chicken had great smokey flavor and was very moist and it all tied in perfectly with the carolina sauce. My favorite thing to get though is the loaded fries!!! Perfectly fried fries LOADED with brisket. You had the crispiness of the fries mixed in with the sweet and salty brisket. That was a party in my mouth. Now let’s talk about dessert which surprisingly may have been my favorite thing. I only happened to get a slice because it was my coworkers birthday but I’m glad we did. Because the key lime pie cake blew my mind! You have to try it to understand!

Now let’s talk about the owner Jay. Just an all around great guy with positive vibes making bomb food! Like the saying goes foodie people are the best people and he is definitely a foodie. So if you’re in the area definitely try it out! You won’t be disappointed!

Trust me I’m a competitive eater!

This hidden gem is an awesome hole in the wall restaurant. It’s family operated with great hospitality. Their menu is short and simple, keeping to the basics of great home cooking and barbecue. The meat on the ribs was tender and flavorful. The pulled pork and brisket was just as moist as it was delicious. I believe they make their barbecue sauces in-house. Their sweet barbecue sauce was superb.

As long as I’ve been getting my hair done in the same plaza, I had never gone in this BBQ place until today. And it was delicious! The meat was tender and juicy, the sides reminded me of some real southern cooking that I don’t get very often, and the owners were amazing. Very sweet, accommodating to everyone that was there and just gave that overall southern hospitality that I grew up with. I absolutely love little eateries like this, so thank you, Natina and her hubby, for such a good BBQ experience. I’ll definitely be returning and keep the sauce! The mustard sauce definitely made me think of my grandma’s recipe.

Omgosh!!!! I have been doing a happy dance for every bite. I had a taste for GOOD soul food/bbq and this totally hit the spot! Ribs are meaty, greens were good and not overly seasoned. Mac and cheese was good as well. Pound cake was okay. Not too sweet, nice flavor, but it was a little dry. Nice portions and reasonably price. The gentleman who took my order provided great customer service. Overall, I enjoyed my food. I’ll definitely be going again.
