Wowed by the amazing classy interior, looks like a fine dining restaurant. Everything is fancy, bowl, plates, silverwares, gold spoon, so far the best indian restaurant I have seen. We ordered a chicken tikka masala, plain and garlic naan, and shrimp biryani spicy. The chicken tikka masala is good, the naan is the best I have seen and tasted! its perfect! It’s crunchy, ready to eat portion, delicious, not the usual naan bread I usually eat. The chicken tikka masala is just right with lots of chicken in it. I dip the naan to the tikka masala. The shrimp biryani is good but uncomparable to my favorite from Naan n Curry. We were the only customers during a weekday late afternoon, good customer service. This is a gem and I would love to try this place again. Highly recommended!

This was my first time at this restaurant and I was excited to try the food after reading through the reviews. It appears this restaurant went through a transformation phase over the years with food and service. Now with current stellar reviews. I decided to recap my dinner experience.

Atmosphere: 5/5
When I entered Mirchi, the decor transported me from a strip mall to an elegant authentic Indian dinning experience. The tables were set for dinner with clean white plates, glass, and silverware. The place was clean with a crystal chandelier and Indian decor including elephants paintings and elegant mirrors on the wall.

Service: 3.5/5
I had mixed reviews about the service. Upon my entrance into Mirchi, I was greeted by a young lady with the words, “What”. The greeting was not pleasant and her initial vibe was aggressive and jarring. Although the initial impression on service was not great, I decided to continue for the complete experience. During the service, the young lady named Preeti, became more pleasant. With more training, Preeti (please forgive my spelling) will become an amazing waitress.

Service tips: Have a pleasant greeting, offer assistance with the menu, give the customer time to review the menu, pour the customer water/drink, and bring the check to the table.

Food 5/5:
I was the only customer dining-in with other customers taking to go orders. My order consisted of the following:

Appetizer: Samosa
Entree: Tofu tikka masala
Side: Mirichi Naan
Drink: Taj Mahal Lager

The food was delicious with consistency in flavor, color, and complimentary spice level. This was the most traditional Naan I had the pleasure of experiencing. The slight browning and crisp edges of the Naan was evident it was made traditionally with an AMAZING flavor profile. The tofu in the Masala could have been slightly smaller but it was plenty with the spice level coming through without being offensive and taking away from the flavor. Let’s not forget about the Samosas. It was the BEST I ever tasted.

Overall, this was a great dining experience with AMAZING food and service that continues to improve. The price was Affordable for this area – coming from a TEXAN. It would be a Cinderella story if this restaurant was aired on Triple D: Diners, Dives, and Drive-thru. When you’re in the Benicia, CA area, stop and try delicious food at this family owned restaurant.

This was my first voluntary foray into Indian food dining for many years and omg, it was INCREDIBLY tasty.

This place is very cute inside and extremely clean, the food was so good we could barely stop eating when full. It was nearly empty inside the restaurant and I don’t understand how or why- WHERE WAS EVERYONE THIS PLACE IS GREAT!

There was definitely a big language barrier with the waiter who didn’t say much, but I asked him to help me choose an appetizer and his recommendation was on point, and there was no translation needed for our big smiles and the thumbs up I shot his way once we had dug into our food.

We ordered: Samosa chaat appetizer, tandoori mixed grill skillet, paneer tikka masala, shrimp biriyani, garlic naan

I am so excited to put this into our regular dining rotation and I hope others will too- I want to see more people in there with us next time!

My family hardly dines in here, most of the time we do take and there have been some issues but we usually set it aside but tonight just completely drives me up a wall. I order 2 chicken korma as usual, a large rice as usual and 8 pieces of garlic naan bread. Even though I specified pieces they gave me 8 orders and the ticket said 2 basmatti rice and I was charged 105 dollars I let it go. I come home and there’s no rice so I drive back and ask for a manager who happens to be the same person to hand me my order. I try explaining to him what happened he tells me to use his translator so I repeat it to the translator and I say I was given no rice. He comes back with a small container of rice even though any time I ordered it was a large container. So I ask where the large container is and he says “we don’t have it anymore” okay but my ticket says 2 orders of rice. I just told you I didn’t get any and youre going to hand me one small container of rice to feed 4 people with my 8 orders of garlic naan. I ask if thats a single order and he goes yes. We’ll you charged me for 2 so can i get my second one.I’m so beyond pissed I feel like I was completely jerked around and this isn’t a problem of a language barrier. This was straight incompetence or lack of care. Didn’t even apologize or try to make it right.

We stopped at this place on our way to burnley. The ambience is good and clean, but the food is below average. The masalas had so much color powder to it and dint taste great. Service is quick and good though!

They didn’t have many of the items on the menu, like Lentil Soup, Cucumber Salad or Malai Kofta, all standard fare and the soup was on their blackboard! This was around 1pm. Hence the average rating. What they served was good and made to order though.

Terrible service my family has come here several times and every time the service gets worse and worse. Last time we came to this place the server told us they had many phone orders and we had to wait for 15 min before our order was taken. We come here quite often from San Francisco and have the same server. I believe he’s the only server of the whole place. The server knows my husband is a vegetarian and only eats paneer dishes. He had us sit and wait for 15 min to order then came to take our order and as my husband ordered our usual the server told us the restaurant had no paneer. So why not tell us before seating us? He had us sit and wait he knew what he was doing being spiteful.
also every time we came here the bathrooms stink like a porter potty they never have soap. and they clearly never clean them we will never come back here again. It’s disgusting and so is the service. The food is not worth all the headache of coming here. I don’t recommend this place.

I was hungry and I enjoyed this food. All good food. But few things can be improvised. Sweet Kashmiri may have more on nuts. Biryaani, hmm, it’s more like lots of chicken and pulao. Chicken methi is awesome and Chai is a reliever. Treat yourself to this family owned restaurant.

The ambience is good. We went there twice in two weeks. Although this restaurant used to serve South Indian cuisine before, now it is North Indian based.

First and last time going here!!!

I went to this restaurant because the nearby restaurant was closed. It was a very clean place. However, I cannot say the same for the services and food. I ordered two dishes for takeout: special lamb curry and classic chicken curry. Both came without any rice or bread, just curry. At the prices I paid I could have gone to any other restaurants nearby and get the complete plates! Both dishes were mediocre at best!

As for the service, the person who took my order could barely speak English, and he kept my credit card until i asked him to give me back on my way out!

What a sorry experience that was…
