Our waiter, Jesus, was super friendly and made the whole experience even better. The vibe was relaxed and chill, which made it such a great place to hang out and enjoy a great meal.
Highly recommend!
I made eye contact with a blond woman who was serving everyone else on the patio. She was inside and looked right at me and then turned around and continued drying plates.
At this point I’m extremely thirsty and considering getting my water bottle from the car as the party that was seated after us had already gotten water and were placing drink orders. My husband then gets up and asks the hosts to send a waiter.
One of them came and took our order. Then a male waiter came (Daniel). He was kind and great at explaining the menu. We did have to ask for him one more time before finally receiving water at 8:08pm. I immediately drank half the glass.
We each got the coconut risotto fish / mushroom dish and the shared the ahi tuna donut. The food was delicious, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. A bit heavy so not something I could eat often. Was not interested in drinks or ordering anything else here.
We initially, upon being seated, saw they had happy hour 2-4 and planned to return the next day for the fish tacos and Lilikoi sorbet but after the service we decided to visit the water front tavern across the street instead and enjoyed their HH instead.
Service was great the entire time, which is the main reason we’re rounding this up to 4 stars. Everyone was friendly, fast, and attentive.
Food-wise, everything was good- not amazing, not terrible- just solid. We enjoyed the fish tacos and the fish & chips. The “My Girlfriend Isn’t Hungry” add-on was cute and catchy, and the queso tacos were actually pretty good. But the chicken strip in the combo? Sad. Just a basic frozen-and-fried strip that felt like zero effort went into it.
I liked the mixed fries concept, but it honestly felt like we got the leftovers- all the tiny, broken pieces at the bottom of the batch. Drinks, however, were good, and pricing felt fair for the area.
This restaurant is owned by the same owned of Mala Ocean Tavern across the street, which we almost went to instead.
Overall, Coco Deck is a perfectly fine place to grab a casual bite with good service and a great patio. Not the kind of spot you rave about later, but solid enough that we didn’t regret stopping by. Generous 4/5 stars.
Michelle was our server and you could tell she was a veteran server that loved her job. She was very informative, gave great suggestions and just enough conversation to make you feel like a friend. All the staff that touched our table were friendly.
Hopefully we can come back before we leave, but if not, support these local guys!
The actual food was okay. I got a smash burger and it didn’t taste like much of anything. To me, the burger just tasted like greasy pickles and bread. The funky fries are fun, but very greasy. My sister had the birria ramen, it tasted just like oil and noodles to me personally. She had to add a ton of salt and even then it just didn’t hit the mark. We also had the spicy chicken but it wasn’t spicy at all. The fish was enjoyed, however and was pretty good.
Considering the price and high reviews, this place was honestly not good. The food was quite bland and the prices are extremely high for the type of food. I would skip this place and try somewhere else.
