Honestly, the entire experience was quite lousy. I know this place is a staple and been around for so long.
I had the bun bo hue, friend had the house special, we shared a spring roll.

Service: they didn’t hurry me out the door, I believe they were closing before I finished my food, which was nice. The older lady when taking orders constantly look everywhere, I don’t even know if she took my order or not. To reassure myself, I repeated myself and she kept nodding her head.
Food: it’s below average. I’m fine with MSG, but this wa heavy MSG, I was parched till the next day. The spring roll, it’s different and not my cup of tea, it was mainly taro or something starchy.
Price: 3 items $50 sth + tax + tip. I think that’s quite pricey for mediocrity. The bowl was quite large, it’ll keep you full.
Environment: basic mom and pop shop, quite spacious.

Everything was delicious! I don’t know why I was expecting those giant Australian type pho bowls (that looks more like a bucket) but these were good sized and appropriate portions. Everything was delicious and we will definitely will back again. The lemongrass chili sauce was definitely worth the extra payment cuz it was amazing!

Everything here was beyond my expectations.

The restaurant is small but well-organised so there are plenty of tables. Foods were amazing. I had the steam rice with grilled pork and fried egg and it was amazing. The fish sauce dressing was so good too.

There were parking spots on the street.

The restaurant owner is so welcoming and making sure that we had a good experience there. 6 stars for customer service.

I would definitely come back once I’m on the island.

Very busy hidden gem along Fort st. Good pho must be tough to get in Victoria because it felt like half the town was lined up here for lunch! Totally worth our 20 min wait. Once we were seated, we had our food ordered and in front of us within 10 mins. The food doesn’t suffer at this speed either, pho was light, scalding hot and hit the spot 100%. Vermicelli bowl was packed with delicious meats with little to no fat. Service was amazing and friendly. The restaurant itself is visibly aged and could use some TLC but the food is where it’s at. Worth trying out.

I went there with two coworkers for lunch today. Everything started pretty well. Orders came correctly. However, after around 45 minutes, we noticed that the waitresses have been very on top of clearing up our dishes. I am the slowest eater. They have cleared up my coworkers’ dishes one after another. While I was still finishing up my pho, I put down my chopsticks to have a sip of water. And the moment I put down my chopsticks, the waitress immediately showed up at our table and ask if I were done. I told her no and she went back to report to a man in a blue t-shirt, assuming he is the boss, standing by the cashier (Honestly, now I think back, the attentiveness was quite funny ). But at that moment, we looked around and saw no line ups and there were tables available. We were puzzled and annoyed. We were sitting there for only around 45min so we didn’t expect the restaurant to want to get us out already. (Perhaps 45 minutes is a long time for a lunch hour standard….not sure what’s going on).

And as soon as I finish my bowl and put down my chopsticks for real, the waitress, again. was already beside our table with our bill and the machine ready.

At the end, we didn’t pay any tips. Food was good. But it’s not THAT good to not consider customer service. There are other options in Victoria for sure. And I’ve had better pho than this one. This is definitely a disappointment. This is our first time experiencing this type of service in Victoria. As an asian myself, for a moment, I thought I was back in Asia. (laugh)

I recently dined at Pho Vy in Victoria with my kids, and I had a good experience overall. The food was tasty, and while it might not be the best Vietnamese food I’ve ever had, it was definitely enjoyable. I was pleased to find vegan options on the menu, including some delicious pho. The atmosphere was nice and inviting, making it a comfortable place to relax. I think it’s a solid choice if you’re looking for a casual meal, especially if you’re in the area!

Hands down my favourite Vietnamese restaurants in the city! I have been to many, but I enjoyed all aspects during my time.

All the soups are good options- you can’t go wrong with the pho. I have been to this place a few times and liked their vermicelli bowls too! Definitely some of the best compared to others.

The family that owns the restaurant are from Vietnam and are extremely friendly. Felt like home and a the service was great. Would recommend anyone to check it out!

What we ordered:

22. Pho chin, bo vien: brisket and meatballs. Always a great choice.

16. Bun bo hue: spicy noodle soup with meat, noodles, lemon grass and spicy. Good option if you want to try other soups other than pho.

I believe I was treated unfairly and in a discriminatory manner. I placed my order, and approximately 8 customers who ordered after me received their meals within 3–5 minutes. During this time, staff repeatedly looked at me, and when I asked about my order, an employee offered free appetizers. I found this gesture insulting—I was not asking for anything free; I simply expected to receive the meal I ve ordered for in a reasonable timeframe.

The service was unacceptable, and I ultimately did not eat there. Based on what I experienced, I cannot recommend this restaurant. I strongly felt my order was delayed or ignored because I am Black, while most of the other customers were Asian or Caucasian.

I was in Victoria for one week for work, and this experience negatively affected the rest of my stay. I also lost my lunch break: I had a limited window to eat, but after waiting over half an hour, I had to leave and walk back to my workplace without having time to eat anything. I felt refused service and disrespected.

The taste of the soup is unique, in a good way, it tastes different from other Vietnamese restaurants. The Vietnamese coffee is rather bitter, not enough condensed milk, and it was a smaller amount than in other restaurants. The consistency was also runnier than others I’ve tried, not exactly the best. The large portion was less compared to other restaurants but, again, the soup tasted better.
