• At our Savannah, GA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I wish it was more busy because I don’t want them to close this one to. The food is always fresh and delicious. I crave the tarter sauce with the malt vinegar!!! The lady at the cash register was so kind. I go there every time I’m in town!!

My daughter and I stopped to grab a bite and decided to dine in instead of ordering from the drive-thru. I’m so glad we did because the service was exceptional. Dre was patient while taking our order, which can be a challenge because I always change my mind in the middle of ordering lol. He also attended the dining room guests and made the restaurant feel like full service rather than fast food. His recommendations were spot on. All the food was fresh, hot, and tasty. It brought back memories of when my grandmother and I would end our day over a meal at Captain D’s on Victory. Just a chance to take in the day, breathe, and enjoy a meal together.
I highly recommend dining at this location. And make sure you ask for Dre!

Was good when it opened but D’s fell off a cliff and now it’s dead at the bottom. The picture is of my untouched water cup that’s dirty, just like the salt and pepper shakers. Soap dispenser in the bathroom is broken, laying on the sink. The whole place is grimy. Worst of all, and most importantly, they “no longer carry spicy”.

In to pickup a couple of meals to go.
Fast, friendly, efficient service. Counters clean, self-serve drink area clean & neat.
Can’t really say to overall ‘atmosphere’, but atmosphere behind the counter seemed as above friendly & efficient. Staff that I saw were all involved in their work.
It’s location can be a bit tricky, especially leaving and turning right onto DerenneAve. & trying to get over into the lane you need.
I wish they had a plan to open up another location. – oh well….
Message to owner &/or manager – give the young lady working the register a wee raise. She was perfect in her position.

If your corporate management would only realize that a better location in Savannah would probably double volume, you’d be great. This location is VERY difficult to navigate. Tonight, Saturday night, two young men were valiantly handling everything. Food was great but wait was long. Location is the only reason I won’t give 5 star.

***Update(11/8/2024): Because of their superb customer service team who handled my complaint last time, it was long overdue I try this place again, and this time they did not disappoint. The fish were fried crispy as what Cap D is known for and it was promptly served with kind smiles and attitude. Thank you. Your customer service team was just greattttt!

I haven’t been to a Captain D’s for a while and wanted to stop for today’s lunch…. then when I picked up my mobile app order, I realized why I haven’t been to a Captain D’s for a while, just look at the quality and quantity of the clam strips….and am I supposed to blame myself for paying $4.69 for it? The 3-piece catfish plate was alright, although fish pieces were smaller…. I am wondering if I can get the money back for the stupid clam strips….I feel I got ripped off…..

This location is some straight BS went to this location and ordered a two piece fish that came with one side. My side was okra. I ordered an extra side of okra. Looked at my food before I drove off and asked the cashier where was my other side of okra. She left the window and came back and said “tbey said it’s in your box” I opened the box and held it out the window and asked her do this look like an extra side. She replied they said it’s in the box. I feel like I was robbed. It’s not the matter of the cost it’s the principle of someone not giving you what you paid for. The extra side should have been placed in an individual container. The only mistake I made was not taking a picture of it for this review. The second mistake was going to this establishment that I will never go to again. Captain Ds should have stayed close in Savannah . Do not rat at this location. Needless to say bubble guts after it was eaten

The food is nothing as it once was. The fish looks like it was cut in half lengthwise before it was breaded. They were overcooked and lacked flavor. The macaroni came in a small bowl that would have been better used for tarter sauce. For the price we paid, we should have at least enjoyed the meal.

Last evening I order 2 piece battered fish, broccoli & fries! I have to say Captain D’s has to do better with food they service. I ordered through UBER, thankfully they refunded me cause when you pay $20.00 for food it should be fresh. The fries were brown and you could not even chew them! The fish was tough to chew! I really like Captain D’s but they have to value there customers and the food they service!
