Customer service and food was amazing. If you ever stop in at Mount Vernon this is a hidden gem. Some of the best Mexican food I have had . I lived in colorado and currently am in North Carolina. Coming here several times visiting my brother out here it was to die for from flavor to seasoning and trying something diffrent each time and wow they truly go above and beyond with there food.

El Maya, I really want to support local business. We absolutely adore mexican food. When El Maya is on it’s game it is delicious. When they are not it is horrible.
The last 3 times I have ordered. ( Placing order through online).
The food has been wrong or not complete. Fajitas with no tortillas, Ranchero beans that was nothing but juice (literally 4 beans swimming in broth), shrimp tacos that had 2 pieces of the wrong shrimp (ordered coconut shrimp and received grilled chipotle shrimp). We are done rolling the dice on if you will get it right.

Food quality was excellent. Beautiful artistic tables and chairs and TV available. We had a big party so they obliged us a long table arrangement last minute which was awesome. Otherwise, service was just acceptable.

I ordered the chicken fajitas. When placing the order, in the description box I asked for only onions, peppers, rice and beans with flour tortillas. No tomatoes salad or anything that comes on the salad. The cooks did not look at the description box. It came drenched in tomatoes, it tasted more along the lines of an Italian dinner vs Mexican. It came with salad and everything on it. The Pollo Con Queso was a very small portion. Definitely not worth the $13.64 for it.
When I went out to my car I decided to check the food. (I didn’t realize at that time my fajitas were covered in tomatoes). My order was missing the LG Cheese Dip. I went back in with my messed up order to get another rice and beans with no salad and my missing cheese dip. The one guy tried arguing with me about my order. He said no its right I said no its not. I showed him the salad/rice/beans and then where is said no salad. I had to explain that 3 times to him it was only.rice and beans. Then I tried telling him that I was missing my Cheese Dip. He said no its in the bag and I told him it was not so he started going threw it. I asked if I could just get my rice and beans and cheese dip. It was more of a hassle than anything. I didn’t finish my food bc it tasted like Italian food. My email stated my food would be ready at 6:25pm. By the time I got home at 6:40pm it was cold. WILL NOT BE BACK! Was not worth it.

This is probably the best restaurant in Mount Vernon, in my opinion. The food is delicous and pretty authentic, the margaritas are great (I didn’t even get the largest option this time), and the atmosphere is enjoyable. The service is ok, but a bit slow, and it took me a while to flag down a waitress for more napkins. Though they were a bit busy when I first arrived for lunch. Still, kind workers and great food! I would definitely recommend this for the Mount Vernon area.

I really thought the food was good, although my experience here was very bad. First off I found a hair in my salsa and the o’boy working proceeded to argue with me about it, saying it was cilantro. I told him don’t argue with me just bring me more salsa, it didn’t happen, instead he brought some pieces of cilantro out in his hand. That’s when I should of gotten up and left, but I was there with a group of friends so I didn’t want to cause a huge scene. Now a day later, as I am looking at my acct summary on my phone, I notice the El maya charge, guess what it is $11.00 higher than the receipt that I signed my name too. Very poor way to do business

Local police eat here so that is a good sign! Large portion and food is hot and fresh. Salsa is good, but didn’t care for the chips. I prefer cantina style tortilla chips. I recommend the spinach enchiladas as they are very filling.

I love the vibrant decor and my party of three raved about the food. I had carnitas, which I will have again on my next visit. My SIL had shrimp tacos and my brother had yummy burritos, but not especially photo worthy.
