I hate leaving bad reviews, but this experience really missed the mark—mostly due to poor communication and lack of accountability.

I ordered a Reuben sandwich with fries. The corned beef was overly salty, and the fried calamari was some of the worst I’ve had. It was oddly mixed with fried pepperoncinis, which completely ruined the dish. On the positive side, we all agreed the French fries were very good—crispy and well done.

My wife ordered the burger of the week, a mushroom Swiss burger with caramelized onions. She said it was pretty good and it looked good as well. However, it was listed on the menu for $19 and we were charged $24. When we pointed this out, staff admitted it was a menu mistake because “the wrong person made the menu,” but said they couldn’t adjust the bill. We were told the only way to fix it was to go find Tim, the hotel manager, at the front desk and complain to him.

There’s a scavenger hunt at the resort for kids, which is fun—but I didn’t realize I’d need to go on one myself just to get a fair food bill.

My kids had mac and cheese and chicken fingers, which were fine.

Mistakes happen. Most restaurants understand that and try to make it right on the spot, which goes a long way. Unfortunately, refusing to correct an admitted mistake goes a long way in the wrong direction. This place really needs better communication and accountability.

We decided to make the Waterfront our anniversary dinner while staying at the Abbey. It was very disappointing. We asked to sit outside (because rain was not scheduled to come for hours), but were told no one was being seated out there. Not a huge range in food options. The same cheese was used in the loaded tater tots and the Mac and cheese (it seemed). We weren’t asked if we were there for any special reason. Our waiter never checked on us after getting our food. My husband got the chicken sandwich – very dry, little aioli, he only ate half of it. Would NOT recommend.

I recently visited Waterfront Restaurant ant Abbey Resort and the scenery was definitely a highlight—the atmosphere and lake view were beautiful and made the experience feel special. I ordered the calamari appetizer and a Caesar salad. The calamari was unfortunately rubbery and soggy, so I wouldn’t recommend it, and the Caesar salad was just okay. On the bright side, the Parmesan herb fries were a stand out—super crispy, flavorful, and definitely worth trying.

Service could have been better. There was miscommunication between the staff, which caused issues with our payment, and our food took a while to come out. Overall, an average experience with hits, but mostly misses.

Waitress on Sunday was slow and clearly miserable and did not want to be there. Checked on us only once and didn’t ask if we were staying at the resort so she was annoyed she had to change the check to our room. We wanted dessert also but were not even given the opportunity to order it as the waitress dropped the check before asking if we wanted anything else. Never offered refills on our drinks either.

Menu is severely lacking and uninspired. Burgers were dripping with so much grease that it completely soaked through two napkins. Parm fries were good but there were no “herbs” as described on the menu, and definitely not worth the dollar upcharge. Not many options for someone who might be a more picky eater or just want something basic.

Bartender was great though, we stopped by later and had a few drinks since we had originally wanted to stay for a bit but again were not even asked if we wanted anything else when dining.

I like the atmosphere especially the outside sitting. The service was good but I can not say the same for the food. I order brisket cheese sandwich. Unfortunately the brisket was not cooked good because was chewy.

A nice relaxing spot right next to the lake with an amazing view from the outside tables, the staff were all friendly and polite, our server was Gianna who just seems to have a magical personality, I ordered the burger of the week which was this crazy burger with a potato pancake in it and a nice maple syrup flavor, I wasn’t sure what I was getting into with this one but it worked and was a nice change of pace, the frys were crisp, the wife ordered the ribs and she seemed happy so that was good for me Lol over all a nice place worth visiting

As a local customer. Server / bartender clearly didn’t want to be there. She barley interacted with us we were the only 2 people at the bar. Loaded potato soup was paste. Bring back the Cheese, Tomato, and Tortilla soups!!!

We had lunch and everything was delicious. The brisket was done perfectly with charred ends and nice smoky sauce.

Definitely pay attention to the reviews. My husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary at the Abbey. We decided to have dinner at the Waterfront restaurant after hearing they had live entertainment at night. The food is definitely overpriced. Literally a piece of meat + fries or onion ring for over $35. My husband’s steak was very much undercooked. I had ordered the ribs and instead received the fish and chips. We had to wait additional time to get our meals corrected. Definitely not a good experience

My husband and I arrived at the Abbey early Friday afternoon. We visited the Waterfront Restaurant for their (all you can eat) Friday night fish fry, and we loved it!
It comes with Cod or Walleye, fried or broiled. It also comes with potato pancake, regular fries, or sweet potato fries. As well as coleslaw and hush puppies. Everything named above was all you can eat. And you can change your selection at each plate. It came out fresh from the fryer and was quite delicious.
The view was beautiful, and the service was prompt.
