The grits. Oh lord have mercy they were creamy and perfectly cooked. I had amazing creamy grits in Hilton Head SC and 4 Hens tops those.
The creole cream sauce was amazing too. I was worried it would be too spicy because I’m weak I admit but this…..this was amazing in every single way.
I have a new favorite food.
Also I was unsure what I wanted so I asked the employee a few questions about a few different dishes and after she answered my questions I was unsure which one I wanted so I asked her what she thought and she suggested the chicken and grits and I’m so glad I took her suggestion. She was so patient and helpful and I appreciate her being so patient with my questions.
Now lets get into the food we ordered 2 of the catfish platters it was SWAI not catfish and that is just wrong to charge the price of catfish for super cheap thin none flaky swai! We also ordered the 4 wing chicken platter and the chicken was super light skin and full of feathers! Now if it didn’t have all the feathers it had and was cooked a smidge longer it would’ve been good! All means came with fries that were also undercooked not cold but rather limp! And only about 3 fries had seasoning!
We also ordered the gumbo and the lima beans were extremely burnt on one side (I hate I didn’t get a pic of them! And the gumbo didn’t come with rice and it was $27 which to me for the price point it tasted more like a soup so it was rather disappointing! Then the absolute WORSE THING OF ALL was the gumbo had MULTIPLE pieces of hair in I was so upset that $27 went down the drain! And no I did not mention it to the owners/workers although I should’ve!
We also had 2 strawberry sweet teas ABSOLUTE GARBAGE! Although my daughter liked hers but U switched mine out for lemonade which they were cool about so that was nice..my husband had strawberry lemonade and he liked it… they did not ofer refills on those $7 drinks tho! Last but not least the sauces! I had voodoo something I forget the exact name but it wasn’t great, wasn’t horrible either but it was DEFINITELY better than the hot honey! The hot honey was exactly that HOT (temp wise) honey not a drop of hot sauce was present! Not a drop of hear was present so my daughter just put hers to the side and ate her chicken plain but my husband used his though!… ALL IN ALL my husband didn’t finish his SWAI my daughter had a wing and a half left with almost all of her fries and I had an ENTIRE bowl of gumbo left and just an fyi everything that was left was thrown away!
While they were a but busy the quality for the price could be A LOT better! We spent $112 on chicken and fries trying to support a black owned business just to be let down! So my take on it is TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSE WHERE unless you want fake catfish, just barely done wings, and hair filled gumbo!
We were sitting there eating while she had to find something else. So yeah, the food’s good, but don’t expect to get everything they advertise.
