Had brought someone to Gary who never had Ray’s and they were delighted…they loved the shrimp and the mushrooms as well. Customer Service was great also . The young lady was pleasant and welcoming.

Stopped and gave this place a try for dinner one night. One word — horrible. I ordered a catfish nugget, whiting, and shrimp basket. Totally a waste of money.
The whiting fish was over-battered, and when you broke it open, the batter inside was still undercooked. The catfish was overcooked, and the shrimp had no flavor at all. The only thing that was actually good was the piece of bread that came with it.

This establishment was a popular go to for my inlaws back in the day. The shrimp was lightly battered and very tender. The coleslaw was creamy without the bitterness that some have. The gizzards were tender and seasoned well.

Regularly seeing people visit this restaurant sparked my interest in dining at Ray’s. As I entered, I asked customers how was the food. They commented positively on the food. The restaurant offers comforting sides to complement the fried seafood menu. We ordered shrimp and whiting. Ray’s fries reminded us of McDonald’s fries. The shrimp were perfectly cooked. However, both the shrimp and fish lacked flavor. Daily specials are inexpensive.

This food was terrible, We ordered shrimp and perch fish, the perch fish was so bad my husband threw it away, it tasted like old fish. The shrimp… was good without the sauce they applied as mixed sauce. The mixture should have been mild with not hot with sugar. I come once a year and some said try Ray’s “ yuk” SHARKS on 40th and. Broadway was the go to, um um good!
