Very cool, funky atmosphere (loved the lighting made of galvanized tubs). The staff are very friendly. The food was excellent. The sweet potatoes and mac n cheese was delicious, but I especially loved the Lima beans cooked with bacon. The fried catfish was perfectly seasoned. My entree, three sides and a sweet tea was under $14. I’ll definitely go back.

Cool lil place with a nice vibe. Get there early for all the choices. They make so much then scratch it of the menu. Cool concept. Red beans and the cabbage was great. Chicken fried steak was tender and very good.

Might be my favorite southern restaurant in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I got the catfish with a side of mac & cheese and hush puppy. The quality of the food was great, not too oily, not too dry, everything about the food was great! Great service, highly recommend, I will come back

Always great service, and several of their selections are so good! Portions are always good, too. In particular, their herb roasted chicken and catfish entrees are always delicious. I also love the broccoli salad and the sweet potatoes! White chocolate bread pudding AMAZING.
On the other hand, only four stars because I haven’t been a fan of the meatloaf or the mac and cheese. Both tasted rather plain.

This place continues to have great food. Every time I go it’s great. The service is very quick and your food is out promptly. The portions are large so you’re guaranteed to be full when you leave. All around good quality from the ingredients to the service. Highly recommended.

First, I literally laughed out loud at the review here that said GrateFull Soul is “for yuppies”. Haven’t heard that phrase since the Reagan administration and the restaurant was all blue collar when I went for lunch. Anyway, great comment and while I don’t agree, I totally appreciate the laugh.
GrateFull Soul was good, but not necessarily great. The Herb Roasted Chicken (which they serve everyday according to FB) was the star of the show for sure. I also had corn and black eyed peas which were both a little bland. The broccoli salad was fair. I’ll get the pear salad next visit. If you’ve never had pear salad, it’s a unique experience you should at least try once. The cornbread was average at best.
Ambience is good and the wait staff was very courteous and attentive. Worth a visit for sure. Parking across the street.

The location is close to William Carey, so I’m able to just hop in the car and head over for lunch. If you don’t want the main dish of the day, they always have alternatives just as delicious. My favorite is the chicken orzo dish they have started to bring in. The orange fluff is good, and I always have to get the lima beans. Every plate comes with a sweet tea, which is a plus! Can’t beat their style of home cooking
I will say choose the roll over the cornbread
