Crave BBQ at Hall’s on 5th

  4.8 – 375 reviews   • Restaurant

CRAVE BBQ is where slow smoke, bold flavor, and genuine hospitality collide. From the moment you arrive, the aroma of wood-smoked meats sets the tone for an experience rooted in patience, craft, and comfort. Brisket is tender with a deep smoky bark, ribs pull clean from the bone, and pulled pork is rich, juicy, and unapologetically satisfying. House-made sauces range from sweet and tangy to fiery and fearless, each designed to elevate—not hide—the meat. Sides like creamy mac and cheese, seasoned collards, and golden cornbread hold their own with confidence. More than a restaurant, CRAVE BBQ is a neighborhood gathering place—welcoming, unpretentious, and driven by a love for real barbecue done right.

Stood next to a friend as she was perusing the menu and mentioned how I don’t like bread pudding. The gentleman behind the counter said “bet I can change your mind”. She got her food & we went to sit down and I was personally delivered a bread pudding that was delicious! I appreciate the effort and the change of my opinion!

The location at Hall’s on 5th is just delicious. My fiancé and I went this weekend and I wasn’t wanting anything heavy so I wasn’t very curious when he stopped at their menu to browse. The owner was so kind and engaging..he let me sample a few things while we chatted. EVERY SINGLE THING I TRIED WAS AMAZING. We ordered mac and cheese, potato salad, 1/2 rack of ribs with the spicy bourbon sauce I believe made in house, I honestly forget what my fiancé ordered because I was so focused on my plate. The ribs were served uncut which made them so juicy and they were very meaty. I can’t recommend this business enough.

I’ve been wanting to stop in since they opened, and finally the planets aligned ( I only live 5 miles away ) and I made it in for a take-out order.

I am a self proclaimed wing expert, and my wife is a self proclaimed hamburger expert, so guess what we ordered?

These were some of the meatiest wings I have ever eaten, the sauce was spot on with plenty leftover for me to dip my caterpillar french fries in. Don’t put a google on “caterpillar french fries”.

My wife demolished her hamburger, which is odd because she usually takes half of it back home in a doggy bag, even though we were already at home eating. So in other words, she did not share any of it with the dogs.

I was able to enjoy a cold beer while our order was being prepared and after the 5 mile drive home everything was as tasty as it could be.

Another fantastic visit to Crave! Despite a busy dining room, the servers were welcoming, friendly and attentive! The food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. It’s clear that Chef Robert loves what he does and puts passion into his menu and food. We went for breakfast this time and had the chicken and waffles. Can’t wait until my next meal there. For lunch, I highly recommend the Mother Clucker, the El Jefe, or the Cajun Cobbler. All of them are so good it makes it hard to choose!

We picked up dinner Crave on our way home. I got the fish and chips, my husband got the burger. The batter on the fish was crispy even after the drive. Absolutely delicious. My husband enjoyed the burger so much it was gone before I got my food to sit down. And don’t forget the bread pudding! So glad that there’s a good restaurant close by again!

So I arrived for the soft opening at Crave at Rock Springs and let me tell you, it was a delightful experience! I wanted to shake things up a bit and try something new and boy was I glad I did. The food was delicious, packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. To top it off, the service was impeccable, attentive and accommodating, which made for a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

As a resident in search of a great breakfast spot close to home, Crave at Rock Springs is the perfect choice. I was surprised to find the prices so affordable, which was a definite bonus! My favorite dish was their mouth-watering bagels filled with crispy bacon, eggs, and oozy cheese. The taste was unbeatable, and it has become my go-to dish at Crave!

The cherry on top is that they have more amazing projects lined up in their Apopka location. I can’t wait to check out their lunch menu and all the future delicacies they have in store. Needless to say, my taste buds are thrilled, and I am already planning my next visit. Thank you, Crave at Rock Springs, for a fantastic meal!

We visited this place for the 3rd time and it has been a win everytime! It is a very cute little diner with some cute decorations that makes you feel at home. Our first visit we had lunch. I ordered chicken strips, not something I usually order. They were amazing! Tasted homemade. We came for dinner last Thursday night. The appetizers so delicious that we ordered three. Italian sausage stuffed mushrooms were loaded with meat and cooked perfect. We also had Reuben egg rolls and chicken wings. So much food we had to take home a box. Today we brought our grandson for breakfast. My husband ordered scrambled and I ordered over medium they were cooked perfect. The Grits were stone ground and the sausage gravy was full of sausage. Everything had such a good flavor and Stephanie took very good care of us. I am so excited to have a neighborhood restaurant so close by! Wish I had taken more pictures. I only snapped a few of our appetizers Thursday after we had already munched on them.

I wanted to provide an update to a prior review:

Even though I believed the menu said meatBALL sub and I assumed I ordered that, looking over pictures of the menu I realize even though I asked for a meatball sub that it actually says meatloaf sub. Everything else I’ve said stands and I don’t appreciate how defensive the owner is to my honest review (keep in mind my review was not all negative). I still stand by the rest of my review that the food is overpriced for the area and was underseasoned and that the atmosphere and decor lacked, but did want to correct my apparent inability to read the menu.

Previous review: I’ll start off by saying the staff was really nice. The food? Overpriced. $18 for a burger? No thanks. It isn’t some gourmet creation that they are hand-making there. The burger was also very undercooked which thankfully they fixed. I had ordered the meatball sub expecting a sub with meatballs. What I got tasted like someone had smushed some of their meatloaf into the bun (akin to a sloppy Joe). It did not taste good (it was actually pretty blandly seasoned). I kept thinking the whole time how much I actually just wanted meatballs on my meatball sub. I also like trying the Mac n cheese everywhere I go. I ordered a side. It was also very underseasoned and bland. It is not a baked Mac n cheese. I would not recommend either of the meals I had. For an appetizer we got pretzel bites and those were actually good, but again very overpriced. The cheese dip it came with also was too running to stay on the pretzels.

In summary, it was not memorable and everything there is so expensive that I’m guessing it’s more of a tourist trap for people going to Kelly Park/ Rock Springs than it would be for locals to frequent beyond one time. It was suggested to us to go there, and I unfortunately cannot extend that suggestion to anyone reading this. If every item was about 2/3 the price and better seasoned, then maybe. The place inside also needs to be upgraded and look a lot higher end if they want to server $20 burgers.

Looking for a good bite to eat in the area, this is the place to stop. Food was delicious and soo many different options I enjoyed everything I tried. My personal favorite was the lasagna. Lots of open seating. Friendly staff and quick service.
