TO LIVE AND FRY IN L.A. In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept — take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw — they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long.

Update: The experience has been nothing less than LONG AND TERRIBLE. I placed and online order at 7:30 and it’s now 8:30 and we are still in the parking lot waiting and constantly having to check on our order to know if it’s ready and it’s still isn’t ready in a timely manner. This is no special place to have to wait the amount of time that we’ve waited. This was an online pickup order for two people with sliders and fries.
There is no reason that the base boards or trim looks like a muddy floor. Just nasty. We will not be back to this Montgomery location and because of the amount of time that my vehicle has been powered on for four chicken tenders. I will be sure to tell ppl do not eat here. I’ve also turned people around due to the heavy unnecessary wait time. This is incredibly unacceptable!!! There is nothing offered just have to wait. The food is not worth it. The mild and no sauce is SUPER BLAND. The tenders had burn spot, super slim/small. Fries needed ketchup or something on it. Waste of time and money!
But the place is DIRTY
Once you step in the floor is totally sticky and visible dirty
When I arrive there was still no costumers around 11:20 am but the floors and tables had crumbs and sticky dry soda under the chairs
Onto the actual food: I wanted to love it. I did! The heat wasn’t super hot (medium) It was crunchy though. My thing is that without the sauce to kind of help the tender and slider, the eating it by itself tastes very bland. It literally just tastes like nothing but a bit of heat. If those tenders were seasoned with something underneath they would be a perfect! but it was good with the sauce. One of those foods that taste better with other things on it, but on its own it’s pretty mid.
Tender- 5/10 without sauce
Tender with sauce: 8/10
Slider: 6/10
Max and cheese: 10/10 delicious!!! I like my Mac very cheesy so this might be personal preference! I still suggest it though. I’m glad they don’t up charge to swap out fries and mac!
Bread: 2/10
Overall I give Dave’s hot chicken a 6.5/10
I would try it for yourself and see if there’s something you like! This is just my experience and does not speak for every one of course. I really do hope they succeed in all they do. Art work is amazing. Keep that customer service up. Keep smiling! so much better than what was there before. Hangry joes was good and they closed, and daves came to claim their spot!
Customer service was pleasant. Young lady was really helpful in helping us decide what we wanted.
Far as the food, my husband and I think it’s a little too overrated.
Its good but it’s not something to rave about.
The bites tasted rubbery with and over flavor of horrible sauce.
Our fries came out cold but after my husband addressed it with the young lady she made it right. Kiddos to her.
My chicken sliders and fries were good, but it lacked flavor.
Maybe it was good because I was hungry.
The food is good, but it’s not flavorful. It did it’s job in filling us up, but it’s a place we both said we had the opportunity to try but we won’t be back.
As stated before it’s a great vibe for young people and those that just want to eat to eat. But if you’re looking for something flavorful this is not the place.
We waited over an hour for our food nearly 2 hours- no joke. Where is the owner? How incredibly lazy.
Tip::: When you start a new business you should be there 7 days a week. ::::
OK food- the food was not good. Best way of putting it. It had tons of seasoning (I suppose) however the chicken was flavorless- it came out luke warm- but at least it seemed cooked. The fries were acceptable- ish, they weren’t soggy but somehow also flavorless- it felt like eating a Monet– from far away – ( ie in the pictures I took) it looks amazing but up close- a huge mess- somehow something so visually appealing was just blah.
Worst part. You see that bbq sauce guess how much this spoonful of sauce cost? — $1.69 with tax— i’m serious nearly $2 dollars for basically a pieppette full of sauce .
Overall unfortunately we don’t see giving them a second chance especially with the incredibly long wait and the outrageous tiny sauce prices, I felt like I was being scammed.
