Just tried this place, and we loved it! There was a short wait for a table – no problem. Friendly service, great atmosphere, and really good food. The only issues we experienced were that the brisket was not as tender as we expected, and the shrimp in the grilled shrimp taco were a bit overcooked. (Thank you for using local SC shrimp!) But the fried fish taco was great, the barbacoa taco was amazing, and the sausage of the day was soooo good! The tallow fries were also very good, and we loved the lightly marinated cucumber side. The cocktails were refreshing, not too sweet and well balanced. Can’t wait to come back and try more!

We had the opportunity to try them today. My husbands favorite food is BBQ food so we were excited to try something new in the area. As we don’t feel there are any great/outstanding bbq places in this area.
Our server was good definitely under pressure for sure but handled it well. We were first in line at opening but there was a line that filled the restaurant all at once. So the waitress tried to take everyone’s drink order first. I flagged her over to tell her we were ready to order. She was very pleasant and let us place our order.
We tried many of the items on the menu. For me the highlight was the shrimp and cod tacos. So delicious.
For the meats we tried brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs and chicken thighs. Each is supposed to be 1/2lb. Unfortunately the ribs were 3 thin ribs didn’t seem like 1/2lb. Maybe before cooking? For us the dry rub was a bit bland. We had wished the meats had more flavor and smoke. They were however cooked beautifully. My husband’s favorite was the chicken thighs.
As for the sides. Our go to with any bbq is mac n cheese unfortunately they did not have any. Although not the end of the world was a bit shocking. We did try tallow fries, potato salad, coleslaw and pit beans. The tallow fries were the winner here. The slaw for us was a bit too tangy and bland.
All in all we enjoyed our meal and left will full bellies and enough bbq for the rest of the weekend. This is definitely the best bbq we’ve and in the county.
We will definitely be back.

I came in after work on a friday for take out. I tried the chicken thighs, sweet potato fries and cheese curds and everything was so good! The staff was so friendly! I will definitely be back to try more. Im a hard critic too. Give it a try and understand that they make the meat in the smoker for hours! If they make too much then some might go to waste.. come early enough! Very fresh delicious food.

Border Town BBQ has a lot of potential, and I’m leaving this review in the hope that they improve because a new restaurant deserves the chance to get it right.
Unfortunately, the experience was very rough. The wait was almost an hour, and after being seated it took another 30–40 minutes before anyone came to the table to offer drinks or service. It felt very disorganized, and there didn’t appear to be a manager on the floor coordinating the staff. Because of that, the hosting and service felt unfocused and customers were left waiting without communication.
The food itself was okay, but not something that justified a 1.5-hour wait. The queso Texano (appetizer) was actually the highlight of the meal and probably the best thing we tried. We ordered the ribs, the brisket and pulled pork. Unfortunately, the meats had a strong propane taste rather than a clean smoky BBQ flavor. People unfamiliar with BBQ might mistake it for smoke, but it tasted more like the fuel was overpowering the meat.
This place could become great, but it needs stronger management on the floor, better coordination of the staff, and attention to the cooking process. With the right adjustments, it has the potential to be a solid BBQ spot.

I only ordered the brisket and tallow fries. The fries are crunchy and full of flavor. The brisket just fell apart. I recently moved to the south. This is the best brisket I’ve had since I’ve been here.

I know you guys just opened but the guy at the outside bar was very rude to people trying to check in with the hostess. Kindness goes a long way. We don’t know how your system works as far as being seated and it seems like you guys don’t either. Advice: come early or don’t come at all or you’ll be waiting until they run out of food and then you have to turn around and leave anyway. I’ll try this place out in a couple weeks I guess.

Tried Bordertown BBQ today. I was not impressed for it to be a BBQ place. They didn’t have some of the things on the menu. Mind you it’s a small menu. Got the brisket sandwich with sweet potato fries. My husband had the turkey sandwich with pit beans. My brisket was cooked perfectly but lack flavor and the coleslaw that comes on had no flavor. The pit beans my husband had no flavor. The queso texicano was shredded cheese melt and had a lot of grease swimming on top. We sat outside and I watched Tim takeout the trash and came back without washing his hand straight to a table. One hot mama in bluffton by far is the best!!

This place was great, I had the pulled pork sandwich with a side of potato salad, the potato salad was really really good, the pulled pork was seasoned and cooked great, I liked the sweet heat sauce, really impressed with the food I tried the tallow fries also and they were great, they also did a great job on the remodel, the food didn’t take long at all to come out and everyone working was really nice, great place

You have to be on a wait list for the bar. For a barbeque restaurant that is ridiculous. We have other great restaurants in Beaufort. Go to Q on Bay
