Stopped by chance after shopping downtown. The restaurant has a cool look with the glass roof and garage doors. We ordered vegetarian dishes and they were very good. The papaya salad was excellent, I do think there may have been fish sauce in it, so beware if you are a strict vegetarian. We had a tofu stir fry and tofu curry, both were good, not too salty or oily as many Asian dishes are. The prices are very reasonable and the staff were friendly. Everything was garnished nicely as well. The only thing I would change is if the dishes could be labeled as vegan or vegetarian. We will be back.

I just randomly walked into this Thai restaurant and ordered tom yum soup and pineapple fried rice. I didn’t even think about taking photos at first—until I started eating. The food was really delicious, and the prices were very reasonable.

I’m a big fan of Thai food, and this tom yum soup is really delicious!

Had the papaya salad and the lettuce wrap. The papaya salad was excellent, fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The chicken in the lettuce wrap, however, was more like scrambled egg in texture, which was surprising and not what I expected. The interior was nice and welcoming, and the service was solid.

Very cute and delicious restaurant right down town. Me and my family were craving some Thai food and just stumbled upon this place while looking around.

Food was very flavourful and had a good amount of spice. Portions was reasonable and great to share. Any curry with coupled with a stir fry is more than enough for a group.

Owners were very friendly and we were able to learn their story and how they opened up their restaurant.

What we ordered:

Pad Pak with Peanut Sauce: Vegetables topped with peanut sauce. Really enjoy anything with peanuts and comes with rice and spring roll.

Panaeng Curry: A red curry with good spice and topped with a hint of lime. Also came with rice.

Mango Coconut Sticky Rice Pudding: Traditional dessert dish which uses mango and coconut.

Fantastic sauna experience with giant flies dancing around you during your entire dinning experience. Soup noodle and mango sticky rice were standard but the PadThai was absolutely disgraceful. I’ve had a lot of padthai in my life but nothing tastes like that. Super sour (which I hope it’s actually vinegar not ingredients went bad), beef were flavourless, and the entire dish was covered in thick starchy coating. Just felt like someone put all the leftover ingredients from the fridge and dump them together with water and microwaved for 5 mins.

It’s a beautiful place with a nice homely vibe. Lots of natural light coming in from the skylight and the plants bring in a lovely feel to the restaurant.
I was seated promptly.
I had the green curry lunch combo and it was more than enough for one person! Came with curry, rice, a spring roll and salad!
The green curry itself is super flavourful with all the right ingredients and the jasmine rice is delicious.
Looking forward to more visits to this wonderful restaurant!

I tried the cashew chicken lunch special. Such a great price! You get the cashew chicken, rice, salad, spring roll and soup for $16.95. The service was quick and friendly. I love the big garage-style windows that open up to the street in the summer.
June 29, I tried the yellow curry special. Fresh and tasty! Good portion for myself.

I remember this place was good when I was living in Nanaimo, but it was a while ago, and the quality is not the same.

The Vietnamese milk tea was a little water down, and I am starting to see a trend here.

The pad Thai I ordered also water down, it’s like a bowl of noodle soup, so watery at the bottom, the flavour also is not enough

The Tom Kay soup is a little better, it’s not so watered down, it’s tolerable.

Service was good, atmosphere was also good. It really depends on what you are looking for.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sukkho Thai in Nanaimo, and I must say, it was a truly delightful experience. The restaurant offers an authentic taste of Thailand with rich and vibrant flavors that transport you straight to the streets of Bangkok.

One of the highlights of my visit was the incredible taste of the food. The dishes were bursting with flavors and spices that perfectly captured the essence of Thai cuisine. From the aromatic Pad Prik Kang to the tangy Massamam curry, every bite was a treat for the taste buds. Every drink of the Thai Ice tea was refreshing and cooled off well any of the spicy residuals from our taste buds. Sukkho Thai truly excels in creating an authentic and satisfying culinary experience.

Another aspect that impressed me was the speed of service. Despite the restaurant being busy, the food arrived promptly, which was a pleasant surprise. It’s always a pleasure to have your cravings satisfied in a timely manner, especially in a bustling atmosphere. The restaurant also has a decent amount of greenery and Thai art.

However, it’s worth noting that due to its popularity, Sukkho Thai can get quite busy during peak hours. This can result in a wait for a table and some delays in service. Nonetheless, I believe the exceptional flavors and overall experience make it well worth the wait. The inside is warm and so be prepared to sweat if you order something too spicy!
