We were treated to takeout dinner from Jane G’s. Our order was ready on time and included a free container of white rice. We sampled 2 of their dim sum appetizers, shrimp dumplings (har gow) and bbq pork buns (char sio bao). Both appetizers were delicious and the portion was a good size for the price. Their scallion pancakes were light, cripy and flavorful. Our group picked Jane G’s because they offer a good selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes. The tofu with sauce was excellent. We would also recommend their lo mein, which can be ordered with a variety of meat or seafood mixed in. We got the shrimp lo mein. The classic beef and broccoli dish was also well done. Since the portions are generous, we had enough leftovers for another dinner.

This resturant single handedly made me love coming to Philly. I’m already in love with Asian cuisine but this resturant is by far one of the best Asian restaurants I’ve been too!

I went and I got a lot of bit of everything. The sesame seed chicken was amazing, crunch with sweet tasty sauce WOW. The crab fried rice was another one of my favorites dishes! Never had it before and now I got to other places asking for crab fried rice. The dumplings, CHIEF KISS!

Please if you’re in Philly, go to this restaurant! I’ll be back in Philly next month and best believe to catch me there.

The food was good. However, there were several issues with the overall experience.

When I placed my order over the phone, I was charged slightly more than what the total would have been online, even after the usual online fees and tax. That doesn’t make sense.

They also don’t accept tap-to-pay, which is unacceptable in 2025.

No utensils or napkins were included in the bag, and I had to ask for chopsticks. That should’ve been automatic for takeout.

Lastly, there were a few feathers still on the chicken wings, which means they weren’t cleaned properly.

Slightly above average Chinese food. It’s great for groups and sharing everything family style. My favorites were the Dan Dan noodles (super soft noodles and yummy sauce) and stewed beef and turnip. I did not like the spicy tofu fish as the fish was too fishy, and did not like the texture of the string beans, which felt like it was not cooked thoroughly, altho the taste was pretty good with the pickled vegetables on top. Other dishes were good as well, including the soup dumplings and dry pot chicken. We ordered a tequila shot but it tasted like it was diluted with 50% water. It also took a very long time for the waiters to even get us a pencil for marking the menu. But after we ordered the food came out quite quickly.

We came last night with 4 small children and had a great meal. The service was great, the food came quickly, and everything was delicious. The kids devoured the green beans, the egg tarts. I also loved the Dan Dan noodles and the pumpkin pancakes.

The dim sum here was a miss for me. It still tastes like Chinese food, but having tried dim sum in many places before, I felt that the food here was lacking in flavor. They also stopped making a good portion of the dishes that they show in the photo menu. The only ones they still offer are listed in the paper ordering menu, which was disappointing because we wanted several dishes shown on the photo menu. My favorite dish would be their pork soup dumplings. The egg tarts weren’t very crispy and the pickled garlic cucumber didn’t taste as good. The cucumbers also had some numbing spice, which might not be for everyone. Overall, it’s not a restaurant I’d be craving to visit again.

The staff was kind though! Decor looked nice and the restaurant was clean. They do take credit card.

We had visited Jane G’s a handful of times with decent experiences, but our last lunch was a masterclass in poor service and will absolutely be our last.

From the moment we were seated, our waitress was indifferent and rude. Simple requests—lemon and proper cups for hot water—were ignored. The critical failure came when she incorrectly wrote down our order, then sent out the wrong dish. Rather than apologizing, she doubled down: she refused to admit her mistake, rolled her eyes at us, and would not remove the incorrect item from our bill.

This wasn’t a simple error—it was a complete refusal to take responsibility or show basic courtesy. We left before finishing our meal; the environment was that uncomfortable.

Do not expect professionalism or accountability here. Management clearly needs to overhaul how they hire and train staff, because treating customers with this level of disregard is how a restaurant loses business for good. We will not return, and caution others to temper their expectations.

We had a group of 7 people today and were overall quite pleased with the service, the food, and the atmosphere.
Generally, the food is good, though not everything was 100% authentic for us. We recommend the dumplings, shrimp shumais, pecking duck, and tofu skin. The hot and sour soup and the salt & pepper squid could have been better. Also, note that if you have a party of more than 5 people they automatically charge a 20% tip.

AMAZING LUNAR NEW YEAR DINNER!!! Fabulous from beginning to end! Dim Sum really brought those festival vibes with their unforgettable Lion Dancers hyping up the dining room! And the food…. OMG Every dish, every bite was memorable! The Shanghai Wonton Soup and Hot & Sour Soups were elite! The Garlic Eggplant was and The Roast Pork Bao Bun was just criminal – so good it could have been dessert!
