Me and My friend and I stopped by for our lunch break early today. First, let me say how welcome we felt. 1st. I want to talk about the front of the house. The waitresses were very friendly and very busy. But still, with great attitudes walking around working together, great job ladies. 2ed. I want to give credit to the cook. Most people don’t know, but in most diners, it is always a two man army if you’re lucky 3 men working the back of the house. So when I walked in the middle of lunch hour the restaurant was full and I still received my food in a good time mater. Great job on speed, guys. 3rd l. I would like to say it’s always nice to speak to the owner himself/herself on how the restaurant came to be. The restaurant had an old-school jukebox and hadn’t seen one in a while, and pictures everywhere. Great job on decorating. If you guys enjoyed my review, you know what to do.

Stellar atmosphere and staff! The Scallop appetizer and Arugula, pear, and apple salad were delicious. The mushrooms could be more flavorful, and the rice was starchy or overset, but the Honey garlic shrimp was very good! The very accommodating and kind staff switched out the side for a different one which was great. Great place for cocktails, appetizers, steak, and seafood.

Came here for chocolate chip pancakes and unfortunately didn’t know the breakfast times.

The inside is gorgeously appointed with 50s memorabilia. Spotlessly clean you can eat off the floors.
Servers were so welcoming and friendly which helps when its your first meal of the day lol.
I hesitated about the hot dog and chili price, but when it came out with their onion rings, omg. A big high quality dog.
Topped with homemade chili, i wish there was more.
My wife had the Turkey club with onion rings and she loved it. Plenty there.
The rings were a beer battered type, nice and hot.
The dinner side was super cute and elegant with copper ceilings, and dark wooden features. Almost like a cozy library.
Its crazy how this place looks inside versus outside.
Unfortunately county issues with signing prevents them to tell you whats here etc…
Don’t pass by, come on in and take a peak even if its for next time!
Btw, breakfast only until 11 am.
Cash preferred, and its what the menu is based on and they charge 3.74% for credit.
Hope to meet Penny next time to congratulate her and Gordon on a job well done!

My husband and I went for valentines dinner at the speak easy. The atmosphere was refined, sophisticated and extra romantic. Everyone was smiling and friendly and all the female patrons were given a red rose. I had the sea bass and my husband had the New York strip. Both meals were very satisfying though we did save room for desert- crème brûlée and cheese cake which tasted as if they were homemade. We can’t wait to go back again and to try the diner (breakfast/lunch) side soon.

Penny’s has the second best breakfast in Punta Gorda in my opinion. The food is good, but just not quite as great as my top breakfast pick. The atmosphere is great and the food is definitely what you would expect from a diner. Our service was meh. We had to flag people down to get refills of water, coffee, and our check. The diner was only about half full, our waitress just didn’t come over to our table very much.

Wonderful breakfast! Penny knows her stuff, good food, nice atmosphere. The picture of the pancake is only about 1/2 the Mancake! My Benedict was already gone. They don’t do the Benedict every day but I was lucky. So good!

Our waitress was Penny whom was just adorable not only to us but everyone she spoke to! Our food was fabulous and they didn’t charge you extra for an egg white omelette.

Wive heard through her network that Penny’s was a very good breakfast/lunch restaurant. So, like any good husband we went the first chance we could go. As soon as we pulled up to the place people were waiting outside the door to get in. Im really not one to wait more than 30 mins for breakfast but it being Valentine’s day we did.
As far as breakfast are concerned, its hard to get a 5 star rating IMO. Eggs are eggs. Bacon is bacon. toast is toast. That were Penny’s is above and beyond that. The staff was incredibly busy yet had time to ask us how was our day going , smiled and expeditiously took our order and got it into an under staffed kitchen.
Our breakfast came out perfect!
Give this place a try and dont worry about the beait time.
