Our family’s visit to Thai Spice was a mixed experience overall. The appetizers, such as spring rolls and satay, were enjoyable, and dishes like basil chicken, Tom Yum soup, and papaya salad were solid enough to recommend. However, the Fried Rock Cod Fillet with Chili Garlic Sauce and Sweet Basil fell short in both quality and presentation, leaving us disappointed. Both dinner and lunch courses showed potential but lacked refinement, and the inconsistencies between takeout pricing and dine‑in service added to the frustration.

The ambiance is casual and welcoming, but the main courses, while flavorful, lacked the authentic touch we were hoping for. Service was attentive at times, yet uneven, which made the dining experience feel less reliable. Overall, Thai Spice delivered moments of satisfaction but did not meet expectations consistently, and we feel there is significant room for improvement in food quality, pricing clarity, and service reliability.

First time in Los Gatos on a business trip and was just looking for a good meal that wouldn’t break the bank. Found Thai Spice at the end of my walk and decided to check it out. The place was busy with takeout orders, and most of the tables were full—a promising sign.

Been craving Pad Thai for a while, so I went for it. No regrets! The portion was generous, the noodles were perfectly tender, and the flavor and aroma really stood out, definitely challenging other Thai restaurants I’ve tried. Worth coming back to—highly recommended!

They do not have their own parking but there is street parking. Lunch isn’t too busy but maybe it’s because it’s still early? The lunch specials are a fair price and nicely portioned. The soup and salad they serve with lunch are basic but tasty! I got the yellow curry lunch special, it was flavorful, very mild spiciness to it, and a little on the ticker side. I also got pad see ew, because who doesn’t like noodles…. it tasted a chard but I don’t mind. Noodles were cooked perfectly. It’s a large portion which is great. Service is as expected for a thai place. Overall, I would come back. Good prices for portions and food was good.

Angel wings, Green papaya salads, & Seafood pot soup are great! White rice cooked in a proper way, not too soft or too hard. The chief special we ordered, Asparagus mix vegetables with beef is a bit disappointed…… One of the asparagus skin is too old for chewing & the beef meat is not tender enough to enjoy
Overall, it is still delicious! If you like spicy, sweet & sour, it is not a bad choice to visit!

Every visit to Thai Spice is like a trip abroad. The decor and staff are super friendly and welcoming, they make the dining experience. The food was fresh, spicy and so flavorful. The house special fried rice that comes in a pineapple was to die for. Thai Spice is my go-to Thai restaurant.

Reservations would serve you well here, as we waited for 15 to 20 without one. Once seated, it was worth the wait. This restaurant has been a staple in downtown LG for 15+ years. But the remodel made it a bit more upscale. I had the catfish with green curry, which was excellent. I went spicy, and yes you can choose! Spring rolls did not disappoint, my wife had the pompano delight which we highly recommend if you like whole-fish dishes. My kids enjoyed the food too! Overall it was a great experience and we’ll be back!

Thai Spice is a small casual restaurant with a large menu of the usual Thai (and a few Chinese) dishes. My wife and I live nearby and have gone there occasionally over the years for dine-in and take-out meals. The food has usually been ok but the table service has been erratic. Prices have always been reasonable (at least by Los Gatos standards) given the portion sizes. In our opinion, it’s an average neighborhood place but we wouldn’t go out of our way to dine there.

Our latest meal was a takeout order of BBQ chicken ($13.95) with jasmine rice ($2.50) and a side of 3 veggie egg rolls ($9.95). The boneless, skinless chicken pieces were marinated in a very mild sauce and then grilled. The chicken was tender but the sauce was a bit too sticky-sweet. We both liked the egg rolls, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside. One meal was plenty of food for both of us.

The place was empty and tables in the main dining room hadn’t been set when I picked up my order at 6pm on a Friday, which is unusual for a downtown Los Gatos restaurant. There is no outdoor seating.

It was reassuring to see that the staff wore latex gloves and masks. But we were concerned when we noticed afterwards that the restaurant was rated poorly in its most recent health department inspection (March 8, 2022). A total of seven health code violations were recorded including unclean equipment and utensils, inadequate knowledge of food management, and unapproved thawing of frozen food. Yuck! I wish we checked before ordering because I’m sure we would’ve avoided the place based on that score. (If you’re interested, there’s a handy link to health department reports in the Yelp reviews for many restaurants.)

My rating of average should probably be lower after reading the health department report, but their previous reports have been good so this one may just be an anomaly.

Thai Spice is hands down one of our favorite restaurants. The yellow curry chicken and chicken pad thai are absolutely unbeatable—every dish bursts with flavor and is cooked perfectly every single time. The food, the service, and the people all make Thai Spice truly special.

The most authentic Thai restaurant in Los Gatos. Can be noisey when at capacity, also lots of take out orders add a feeling of disorder.

Really like the curries, much better than other places nearby. Recommended.

Vegetable egg rolls are great.
