Café Smitten has a way of being exactly what you need, no matter the moment. I’ve come here solo to unwind, with my partner for an intimate evening, with friends for a lively hangout, and with colleagues for business — and each time, it fits seamlessly.

The atmosphere is warm, modern, and versatile, with food and drinks that deliver both comfort and creativity. Whether it’s a perfectly made latte, a refreshing spritz, or something sweet and indulgent from their bakery, you can trust it’s crafted with care.

It’s rare to find a café that feels equally inviting for quiet reflection, romance, fun, and work — but Smitten pulls it off with ease. If you want a spot that truly adapts to your needs, this is it.

Nice people, cool place but food and coffee isn’t great. This toast is $8 and it’s the smallest thing I’ve ever seen. Coffee is repeatedly bad and in my opinion you shouldn’t be allowed to have high prices AND sub par products. Fix one of them, and this place could but 5 stars

First time. Not a varied menu but understandable since they appear to cater a specific group in Bakersfield.
Minimalist, in a way. You order. You sit down. You wait. Waitress today is efficient but not too friendly.
Food is rich in flavor, but nothing I would order again. Water is self-serve. Like the music

I’m not one to make reviews, but I had a unique experience this morning that I felt should be shared. I was standing in line with a dear friend. For context, I’m Hispanic. I was ignored for the most part by staff but more importantly the guests that were there. I wouldn’t have noticed except my friend who is Caucasian; received all the attention. From ordering, to receiving general kindness. I felt invisible. If you are an ethnicity aside from white, I’d reconsider going to this location.

Wow! I think Smitten might have one of the most attractive cafes I’ve seen in Bakersfield. There is a lot of natural light, soaring ceilings that draw your gaze upward, their light fixtures were gorgeous, and they tastefully used a wide range of textures, colors, and materials. I took a few minutes to enjoy the aesthetics of the cafe.

I am huge fan of Counter Culture Coffee beans so I was very happy to see it on their shelves and behind the counters. The cortado came served on a seaform green plate; it complimented the color of the cortado well. I sat outside sipping on my cortado reminiscing about my childhood in California.

Enjoying life one cortado at a time!

Smitten should now be known for dinner. My companions and I sampled several items on the dinner menu. Sharing each dish… it was a magical evening of some the finest cuisine BAKERSFIELD has to offer. Every dish literally was perfect. My favorites: the fries ( I am not a French fry lover but will be back for these) the quinoa dish, the salad, the lamb (I am also not a big meat eater but wow!). The sauces are amazing. This is a must try dinner spot.
I have been to this location several times for breakfast/ coffee and tea and am never disappointed.

Perfect cafe vibes for breakfast & brunch! We grabbed breakfast with our husky, which is always nice to find super dog friendly places. Our pup even was offered her own water bowl . You order at the counter and then food is brought to your table, giving that cafe feel and vibe. We ordered a Matcha Latte & Chai Latte with our meal – so good! Mushroom Omelet & Greek eggs. It was unique that each meal is served with pickles, cucumber salad, and tahini sauce. Refreshing!

On a stopover from SF to Vegas. Nice little spot for a breakfast break. Sat outdoors (May 17) 11am – cool in the shade but lots of flies at this time and time of year.

Service was quick and friendly. Food was good. They have live music on Thursdays that I wish I could see but alas Vegas here we come.

Avocado smash and Burger were just fine!

Grabbed an americano for the road.
