Best restaurant that we’ve tried on the big island. We read sone negative reviews and were apprehensive about going, but are very glad we did. Our dinner was incredible.

The best thing about this place is the room, the views, and the ambiance. The atmosphere is 10+ stars. The food is good, But the selection is a little limited. I didn’t take photos of the food but the ahi sashimi appetizer was great …but The service for dinner was awful. We were virtually ignored ….HOWEVER, when the server didn’t come back to see if we wanted more cocktails or dessert, we left the table and went back to the bar (bar staff ~ Jenna and Johnny ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️~ excellent). Apparently the word got to the manager who is a DREAM, and he TOTALLY took care of us ….so…because of the manager ~ “Monty at Manta”, the ambiance, the bartenders, the review went from 2 stars to 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️s. SERVICE MAKES A DIFFERENCE #loveMontyatManta

Delicious food in a truly spectacular hotel on the water. The deserts were especially to die for. They also leave a light on down on the water to attract manta rays (who come to eat the plankton that is drawn to the light) which makes for great pre or post dinner entertainment/a great way to see a manta ray in the wild. The only downside was that we had a slightly snooty waiter. Otherwise, great experience.

Service was terrible, reservations at 8, seated at 8:30, took forever to get drinks, took even longer for our food. Small roach on our table, not a big deal, after the group next to us left a very large roach was crawling all over their table. Then we got the joy of watching a stampede of cockroaches chasing each other about 6ft from us. Pretty nasty, food was good, but not worth the cost. Took a video of the roaches for proof, pretty nasty.

We came to eat at the Hua Tree which was a great sunset view, but walking over to Manta to see the animals was the gem of the evening. We walked up and saw the great creature doing flips and swimming at the surface just off of the viewing area. The hotel does some snorkeling to see them just beyond with a surfboard and lights which pulls them away some, but we had a great viewing just walking up. Manta looked incredible and had views overlooking the water and sunset.

Worst and most expensive meal we have had in the last 11 days. The only highlight was the ambiance. Drinks were decent but the food was terrible. Limited choices and everything lacked flavor. To cap it off, we ordered a cappuccino from the dessert menu, which arrived 10 minutes after our dessert plates were removed and came with the check with no apology. No Manta Reyes either, not that that was the restaurant’s fault but may have salvaged the night. Manta, your menu is bad.

The service was excellent and the food was great. We celebrated an anniversary and they helped to make it so special. The access to the beach is wonderful and makes for a great stroll before dinner. The bar is well stocked and supported by a wonder staff. The only knock I would give was specific to us. We we’re having a private dinner service and people rudely kept walking through our area. I wold say please block the sides to the terrace so as to avoid these rude interruptions to an otherwise excellent experience.

An amazing restaurant with phenomenal views, service and most importantly, food. You’ll need a reservation and it’s pricier than other restaurants in the area but worth it for the views and the Manta viewing after sunset. (The Manta viewing is free, you don’t actually need to pay for it). Our server was one of the best servers I’ve had at any restaurant ever. And the New York steak was the most tender steak I’ve had. It’s sourced from the ranches right there on the Big Island. Extremely juicy and full of flavour.

This was our favorite restaurant on the big island. The service was amazing and the food was really good. We had not experienced a lot of good food on the big island (as it is very remote) so we were thrilled to get a last minute reservation here! I ordered everything the waiter recommended and I was not disappointed! The views were amazing and we even saw a giant manta ray dancing from the viewing deck after our meal! It was a perfect evening!
