This restaurant is truly a great find and a must-try for anyone seeking fresh, high-quality Italian food in downtown La Mesa. The entire experience—from the food to the ambiance—is consistently excellent.
The decor is modern and beautiful, creating a stylish yet comfortable setting, and the service is always great, making for a wonderful night out.
The Food: Always Very Tasty
I’ve enjoyed several items from the menu, and everything is always very tasty.
Appetizers: The Bruschetta is phenomenal—perfectly toasted bread topped with creamy cheese and juicy blistered cherry tomatoes.
Pastas: The Ravioli came in a rich, creamy sauce, and the Cheese Wheel Pasta was a generous, creamy serving with asparagus. A bit too rich, but both were delicious and satisfying.
Other Mains: I’ve also had the Fish, the Lasagna, and the Caesar salad on previous visits, and those were very delicious as well.
Dessert: The meal concluded perfectly with the Tiramisu, served beautifully in a copper pot, dusted with cocoa and garnished with mint.
If you live in the area or are just passing through, I highly recommend this spot for consistently fresh, delicious Italian cuisine.
Also pup friendly on the outside patio.
For my main dish, I ordered the Rigatoni Nonna Rosa and added shrimp. The menu stated an $8 upcharge for shrimp, but the pasta itself was overcooked and the sauce lacked depth. The dish came with four shrimp, grilled with garlic, which made the entire pasta taste overwhelmingly garlicky.
Unfortunately, when we checked the bill at home, we noticed we were charged $12 instead of $8 for the shrimp. Several of us had added shrimp to the pasta so this felt especially unreasonable and disappointing.
Overall, while the starters were enjoyable, the mains did not meet expectations. In the end, I paid $40 for a single pasta dish (pasta with shrimp, tax, and tip), which felt overpriced for the quality. I wouldn’t return for the pasta, but the starters were definitely the highlight.
I started with a Limoncello Spritz… it was very refreshing and good a friend ordered the Limoncello martini, I’m not a martini person but I must say it was good
I ordered bread, and arrived served with truffle infused butter with olive oil. Delicious
I ordered roasted brussel sprouts… sapori deliziosi
I then ordered the soup of the day, onion and was fantastic
For dessert, I ordered the tiramisù… tutto bene! And finally I had a double shot espresso.. ☕️
My server Francesca from Palermo Sicily was very nice. Her bother also was very nice but unfortunately didn’t get his name he prepares the specialty pastas at table side
I will definitely be going back to try different dishes
I ended up moving tables three times as our group ended up being 6 people. But the staff was very accommodating. The outdoor sitting wasn’t as nice as indoors but it worked out.
I ended up parking about 3 blocks away since it was Friday, farmers market day.
We arrived at 6:15 for our reservation on a Friday night. Downtown La Mesa had a charming farmer’s market wrapping up along the street, which added such a lovely atmosphere to the evening. We found free street parking easily, and from the moment we walked up, the experience was warm and welcoming. The hostess greeted us outside with genuine kindness, checked us in, and seated us with ease.
Then came Francesca — our server, and honestly the heart of our entire evening. Originally from Sicily, Francesca brought an authenticity and warmth to the table that is simply rare. She was attentive, knowledgeable, generous with her recommendations, and had this wonderful energy that made our whole table feel at ease and cared for. She is the kind of server you remember, and the kind you come back for.
The interior is absolutely beautiful — the colors, the design, the layout — everything is thoughtfully done and so inviting. For food, we shared the artichoke and Brussels sprouts appetizers (both delicious), and my friend enjoyed a refreshing limoncello spritz cocktail. For our entrées, I had the chicken with mushrooms, asparagus, and mashed potatoes — perfectly prepared — and my mom and friend had pasta dishes that Francesca personally recommended, which they loved. We finished with the chocolate lava cake, which was indulgent and wonderful. Next time, I am absolutely trying the house-made tiramisu.
After dinner, we strolled through downtown La Mesa and it was just delightful — the streets were beautifully lit up, lively, and full of local charm.
Our group of three — myself, my mom, and my friend — all left completely charmed. We will without a doubt be back. If you’re lucky enough to have Francesca as your server, consider the evening made. Highly recommend!
